I never said it couldn't, just wanted to make sure an unsaid rule that would lead to contradiction didn't actually exist, since I wanted to ensure that the question I was answering was correctly stated so there would be a correct answer.

[S]“Ah, that was refreshing,†said Mika as he awoke. His gears inside all began turning and warming, when...POP! One of Mika’s components bursts off of his hip.
“Oh, bother. I suppose I’ll need to fix that first...â€
In this state, Mika cannot walk. He can still hop, however. He can hop 70 centimeters forward, and then 30 centimeters in whatever direction his tail points. If he travels in a straight line, what is the minimum amount of hops that it takes him to travel to his fallen component, if it landed 10 meters away?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 1: Mika's second hop must be in whichever direction his tail is pointing. He knows this, and still he wants to make the minimum number of hops.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 2: He travels in a straight line. All that means is that he won't move side to side. Any kind of movement that results in toward or away movement from the component is acceptable.

This riddle is open to a lot of different interpretations.
'Can he turn around after every hop? owo
For now, I'll assume no.

If I could kindly ask for people to refrain from posting too much in this thread, unless you think I made an error when typing the riddle (which I can almost guarantee will happen a few more times), that would be superb.
I'd prefer if people work out the answers on their own, and too many posts makes it hard for me to find all the posts with riddles in them when I have to update them each night.

[S]Trista wakes up bright and early. There was something oddly refreshing about last night that made her slumber exquisitely restful. As she glides down the stairs and gets ready to leave, her father calls her name from the kitchen.
“Oh! I didn’t know you were awake,†she says as she sits at the table. Across from her, her father sits in his usual work attire. A silt top hat and cape, and matching white, silk gloves, a cane, and a fancy suit in a harlequin pattern. You know, standard attire for a magician.
Trista’s father holds up four cards so that the backs are to her, and tells her, “On the spade is an address of a friend of mine. He’ll help you find out where Mika ran off to.â€
“Okay, well which one is the spade?†she asks.
“Ah ah ah! Not so fast. You have to figure it out for yourself.â€
-The Heart only touches black suits.
-The Club is either third or fourth.
-The Diamond is not on the edges.
-The Spade is either second or fourth.
Where is the spade?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 1: The statement about the heart is only one that does not name possible positions. Don't start with that.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 2: The Club and the Spade both can be on the fourth spot. The Club and Spade are also the two black suits...

[S]Trista goes to the address on the face of the card, and finds an antique shop. The sound of a bell ringing as the door opened echoed through the building. Musty, old air matched the various clocks, furniture, and curios that lined musty, old shelves mounted on musty, old walls.
“Hello? Is anyone here?†No answer came back. She sat on a comfy, musty, old chair and waited. While she sat, she saw a letter on the coffee table.
“Dear Grandfather,†it read.
“Thank you for the birthday gift. John was jealous that it was my birthday and not his, but mom said to be patient with him. ‘It’s the eldest’s job to set a good example,’ she says. Anyway, thank you for the gift. Mary’s birthday is coming up soon. You know how many candles she needs on her cake, don’t you? Haha, I’m kidding. Of course you do!â€
The letter goes on, but a hastily scribbled note near the bottom of the page catches Trista’s eye. It’s clearly in a different handwriting than the rest of the letter, she presumes it belongs to the grandfather mentioned as she reads, “Oh bother, how old is Mary again?â€
Mary is twice as old as the difference between John and Paul’s age. In two years, Mary will be three times this difference. John is twice as old as Mary, and is the oldest. How old are the three?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 1: The "in two years" part is crucial. Think of how this could be true.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 2: Think of the difference between John and Paul's age as being one unit, and then read the puzzle again.

[S]“Oh! You figured out how old my grandchildren are!†came a gruff, tired voice from behind.
An elderly man with a kind face looked down on Trista as she wrote her own note beneath the one from before. “You’ve really done me a favor there. Now, how can I help you?†the man said.
“My father sent me here. He told me you would be able to help me find my pet.â€
“Ah yes, I remember receiving a note about that. I certainly can help, here, give me a moment.â€
The man left and Trista heard the sounds of him rummaging through various shelves and cabinets. When he returned, he held a small lock box, with a dial and an inscription. “Inside this box,†he said, “is the key that will bring you to you lost friend. But you have to solve the riddle in the inscription to open it. Good luck!â€
Trista looked down at the box, but when she went to ask why he couldn’t just tell her the answer, he was already gone.
“I supposed there’s no helping it, then,†she muttered to herself as she examined the box. It had one dial that could tell numbers up to 20. The inscription read as follows:
The queen of hearts would like some tarts. Eighteen, to be exact. She summons three cards and tells two of them to fetch the tarts, and one of them to stay and tell her some puzzles. The three cards appear and tell the queen the following:
The Ace says: “Nine and I can get them all in two minutes.â€
Seven says: “It would only take Nine and I three minutes.â€
Nine says: “It would take the both of you six minutes to get them all.â€
How many tarts will Seven have by himself in seven minutes?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 1: Though the question only asks for Seven's number of tarts, you will invariably find Nine's and Ace's amounts as well. It's a good place to start.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 2: From the statements, it should be easy to see that Seven is the slowest, and that Nine is the fastest. If you have something other than that, re-read the statements.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 3: It is known throughout the heart kingdom that Seven is exceptionally lazy...

“Oh, I just can’t remember,†the brittle voice of a familiar, time-telling impaired old woman tells Trista.
Inside the lock box was the picture of a person that had apparently been the one to tell Mika of the treasure in the first place. However, now Trista was running up and down the city looking for yet another illusive person.
The old woman, whom Trista had already helped twice before, was scratching her head like she could coax the memory out.
“Well, how about I help you piece together your recollection from what you can remember for sure?†Trista suggested, having already eaten her lunch, seconds, and had time to take a tea while the old woman scrunched her face and muttered such mutterings as, “Now where did he work again?â€
Eventually, Trista obtained this information to work with.
Two males are behind a female.
A male is behind a child.
A male and a female are behind a male.
A female is before a child.
How many people, at minimum, does this scene describe?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[S]Hint 1: Keep in mind that statements about males and females can also be referring to a child.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 2: This scene could obviously refer to large crowds of people. Try to minimize the amount of people you add to your scene with each statement.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 3: It is never said that all the people are facing the same direction.

Finally, Trista was getting somewhere! She received the location of the archaeologist who first told Mika about the possibility of treasure in some of the ruins far beneath the underworks of the city. And, what’s more, the archaeologist just straight up told her the information! No waiting, not favors, no random issues that needed resolving. Whew!
Unfortunately, on her way to the entrance that led to the underground ruins, she was stopped by a police officer.
“I’m sorry miss, but this is a crime scene. I can’t let you through.â€
“But isn’t there any thing you could do? All I need to do is enter the underworks from that entrance right there!â€
“Well, I suppose if the crime were to be solved...â€
“Of course,†Trista sighs.
A crime was committed and 5 suspects were questioned, each of whom told one lie and one truth. Who was the criminal?
2 did it. 5 didn’t.
3 did it. I didn’t.
2 did it. 1 didn’t.
5 did it. 2 didn’t.
4 didn’t. 3 didn’t.

-Jeremy said, "Peter was the one who did it. Don Juan Santiago Lopez was not even here when it happened."
-Peter said, "Cynthia is the criminal. I am innocent!"
-Cynthia said, "Peter is only blaming me because he is guilty. I know for a fact that Jeremy is not the criminal."
-Sophia said, "Don Juan Santiago Lopez is obviously the guilty party. Peter's hands are clean!"
-Don Juan Santiago Lopez said, "Cynthia didn’t do it. But, neither did Sophia."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 1: Each of the statements is similar except for one. This one statement is the most valuable.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 2: Of the statements other than the statement referred to in the last hint, only one other is needed to find the criminal. The rest of the statements are trash.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint 3: Don Juan Santiago Lopez's is the statement from hint 1, and Peter's is the statement mentioned in hint 2.
