Quote from Sayoko;81222:
I do not mean to cause any offense with my post. I am merely expressing my opinion as you as entitled to yours. Just as you are for gay marriage, I am against the notion. However, there is no need to attack a person for their beliefs, gay or straight. But I feel like in 2010, increasing amounts of people are not allowed to say what they believe is right and wrong because the pro-gay community is attacking that right and ASSOCIATING ANYONE NOT AGREEING WITH THEIR VIEWS AS HATEFUL.
However, most people that are against gays DO NOT HATE GAY PEOPLE but rather their lifestyle of being gay. You can still like a person and hate their lifestyle (aka a husband that is a couch potato).
However, what appalls me is that a group of protesters to gay pride were quickly arrested for demonstrating PEACEFULLY. Again, it was not a demonstration saying "Burn all gays" or something hateful like that, but rather "Gay marriage is breaking down the morals, etc". While gay people can demonstrate freely without persecution. It's a double standard.
One thing I disagree with is that people can choose to be GAY or NOT. It is a fact that there are brain differences between straight people and gay people. Supposedly, the hypothalamus of gay men are slightly different then those of straight men. However, brain differences alone does not force someone to act one way or another. For example, some people have overactive amygdalas associated with increased levels of aggression over people with normal amygdalas. However, just because one's amygdala is overactive does not justify for domestic violence in a court case. How ridiculous would it be to argue in court: "But your honor, my enlarged amydala forced me to be an aggressive and violent person, I have no choice in that sir!"
I apologize for the forceful tone of voice in my previous post then.
But it is not a gay "lifestyle." It is the exact same life you live only that we are attracted to people of the same sex. Everything the same, but that.
I just honestly feel that there is no reason to be against two people in love and who want to marry each other. No reason whatsoever. Find me one that doesn't shout out RELIGION, because religion is the only thing that's keeping gay people from obtaining somewhat of an equality to heterosexuals in the world.
And once again you point towards silly comparisons to prove your point.
Sayoko, I only want to get married to someone I love, what is this domestic violence business you're bringing up? Sure, maybe our brains are designed differently, but doesn't God create us all? Why would He make us gay and then shun off for living a "gay lifestyle"?
It's life blaming a squirrel for collecting nuts and living the "squirrel lifestyle." But don't most animals live like the squirrel? Finding food to eat, a safe place to sleep at night away from predators and people? Pigeons and squirrels, they live the exact same lifestyle, they just do it differently. One flies, one hops in a funny way. They might eat different things too, but it's the same exact lifestyle. Isn't it?
I don't care if there are brain differences in gay or straight people. It doesn't justify inequality. Are you gonna prevent someone with Down syndrome from getting married just because his brain isn't as able as yours?
In your previous post, you said that the Civil Rights Movement was about race and unchangeable factors. Well, being gay is an unchangeable factor. Why shouldn't we fight for our same rights?
And I don't think those people should have been arrested since they were protesting peacefully, but Soyoko, you must have
some decency to show up to a party and start berating the crap out of the party host. Just like those idiots who show up at military funerals with signs that say, Thank God for Dead Soldiers. You honestly would like them to protest peacefully in front of your dead brother's service?? Seriously?
Gay people have been persecuted for so many centuries and you are protecting the rights of people who do not want to grant them equality?
GG.
I will repeat this for you, Sayoko.

What makes it wrong to be gay?
If someone can answer that question without making any religious references I'll give them a "get out of ban free" card. (and depending on your answer you might need to make use of it rather soon).
Now find me an answer. Your
opinion just doesn't do it for me.
Also, please explain to me what you think being gay is. Because you make it sound like such a horrible thing.
What is this "gay lifestyle" you speak of? This thing that we shouldn't let our brains force us to do or whatever.
Because it's sooooooo bad to be gay apparently when I'm just the same as you. I breathe, I eat, I bleed, I crap. I fall in love, I get my heart broken. I cry, I suffer. I dream, I'm hopeful.
We're two human beings. A Venn diagram, where everything is the same except for who we're attracted to.
What makes that so wrong?
I'm not raping people or forcing others to have sex with me.
Why can't love be universal? For you and for me?
Why is it that only you can take it to the next level and only you can get married, but I can't?
What makes
you so special, when we're both human beings?
