Some no-no's.
Jeans + Flip Flops
So many things wrong with this. If I see anyone with this combo, I immediately consider them unfashionable. If you're not at the beach, don't wear this crap.
Running Shoes w/out athletic apparel
They really don't look good with anything other than sports wear which is what they're intended for...
Sweatpants
I've really only seen girls pull these off and look good with them. Same with overalls I guess.
Jerseys
+ 5 Douche bag points
Embellished Jeans
These just look stupid.
See-Through Shirts
Nobody wants to see yur nips.
Tank Tops
If you're trying to look tough yet you're not buff, it serves the opposite effect.
As a forewarning, people may label you as gay for wearing a V-neck.

First of all, are you paying for your own clothes? Or will your parents be paying for it? Either way paying 55+ for ONE clothing article is beyond ridiculous and that's the crappiest deal in the world. Clothes that cost that much are made from cheap fabric, they're not worth it. You should focus more on prices of the clothes instead of what you think will "look cool". I'd rather get 5 pieces of clothing for $20 instead of 1 for $55.

Converse shoes are nice, but if you don't take care of them they can easily break within the same year you've bought them. Try not to kneel and bend the shoes, since the leather will break off from the sole.
Skinny Jeans, V-necks, and small sized shirts are all the rage these days in California since everyone's trying to aim for that skinny-look(when they're doing no exercise to compliment it -w-)
I suggest buying clothes during sales, Abercrombie and Fitch slashes prices at like 60% off for jackets that would normally cost $100 something on Christmas.
Levi's are probably the best brand of jeans you can get. Everything else is sort of subpar.

Not really. That sort of stereotype died a year ago. Only if you wear sweatpants to go along with it, or stand in a feminine pose all the time.

I haven't been clothes shopping in like 4-5 years, but Gap always had comfy shirts. And all through highschool I only wore one pair of shoes, a pair of black and white converse.
That's my 2 cents~

H&M has decent prices for V-necks and jeans
but the stuff are low quality.

Oh did you decide that? Stereotypes don't die, they diminish. There will always be people out there who enforce stereotypes, whether they're positive or negative.
Didn't say I supported it, I just implied that homophobia is still rampant.

Oh, Sorry. It's just not rampant in my area then. Could've said it in a fairer tone though. :l

Yeah sorry, I get somewhat emotional about this stuff. Some people think this kind of stereotyping doesn't happen and that kind of naivety just rubs me the wrong way. I misread your tone and I apologize.

Depends on the stereotype and place really. The geek stereotype at my school is quite nonexistent. The popular people and geeks for the most part are one and the same.

Eh, the v-neck thing is pretty universal in the US.
Back on topic: Purrz, DO NOT wear flip flops with socks also. That's a super no-no.

flip-flops with socks, who would ever...
Also, sadly have to second the v-neck thing. Doesn't help that the guys I know that wear v-necks are the stereotype.

Tons of boys in Cali wear shorts with crew socks and sandals. Don't do that unless you want to look stupid.
