I bought a new game last sunday for $60 but it is crap I hate it, total burn of my money. If I have the receipt can I still return it? I heard you can return anything with a receipt within 7 days of buying it.

Just go the store, and ask for a refund. If they say no, make a scene out of it. Make sure to do it when there are other customers around.

Found their store policy.
From my experience, you can return new opened games within 7 days for a refund, or at least, store credit. Returned Phantom Hourglass two days after I bought it because I hated it.

Strange, I was told by the cashier that Gamestop doesn't take returns on new games if package is opened. They only take returns if it's a purchased used game. This was when I wanted to return MvC3.
Typical Gamestop employees.

Yeah, as per the official policy.
That's why i'm surprised that I was able to return the game. It does say it's at the store's discretion, though.

Shouldn't that be negated if the game disc is, say, scratched/damaged on opening?

How do you mean?
If you damaged it, they won't take it, yeah.
Also, I think it's a bit hypocritical of GameStop to not refund new 'opened' games seeing as how a lot of the ones they sell are gutted IMO.

Well, theoretically the most they'll give you is the trade-in value.
I forget what I told the GameStop when I returned Phantom Hourglass. I think I lied and said it didn't work. They were either okay with it or my dad screamed at them about how "if it didn't work once, it won't work again" and saying bullshit like how in the state of Massachusetts, you can't sell products you know aren't going to work.
You know, i'd probably remember something like that if it happened, but my dad does that quite often.
Which makes no sense, but there probably is a law like that.

No, I meant if it was already damaged on purchase (which you obviously wouldn't know till you opened it). Of course no shop would take something back if they 'knew' it was damaged by the buyer.

But if you tell them it doesn't work, won't they only give you another copy of the same game? That's why I don't think it's a good idea.

Simple solution. Just have the customer lie about it, and make a scene. If you worked in customer service enough, you will see that this tactic works quite well.
I hate these types of customers the most. It is like rewarding the bad customers.

Unfortunately, not all the new games GameStop sells are actually "new". They let their employees rent out games, among other things.
Also, making a scene does work, haha. My dad is on the phone right now yelling at some place that sent him the wrong GPS cord not once, but twice.

K so my mom is gonna bring it back tomorrow and say it doesn't work. If they give her another copy we'll go back another day and give it back while it's still unopened. Flawless.
