Do you think someone could be born in the wrong body?

  Well seeing as people can be born with all sorts of outward deformities, it's fair to say the mind is the correct one.
  
  
  @ Hanna; yeah, nothin' against you, I just think it's silly to debate whether or not people like that exist when it's been proven that yeah, they are born in the wrong body.
  
  The only debatable issue is whether you choose to deny that fact or not. It's an odd subject for some (kind of understandably), but other than that I dunno what's so hard to grasp besides people choosing to be arrogant about it.

  No one said they automatically were, I'm just saying that it happens.
  This isn't where we point fingers saying transgendered people are faking it, I just wanted to know how people thought that kind of thing worked.

  I know you're not talking about everyone. I think it just bugs me that people are like, "Oh it's probably a cry for attention" when a lot of them try to be as subtle about it as possible.

  The thing that's kind of funny about the whole "omg it's 4 attention" thing is that the only attention we tend to receive is negative. Not to mention most of the transpersons I've met are actually ashamed to admit they're trans, so they seldom even mention it. I'm the type who is (obviously) more open about it. I don't go shouting it down the streets, but since I'm stuck in this body, why hide it if it's brought up?
  
  I can't speak for every single transperson, but most of them tend to have very.. ironic bodies, shall we say. I for instance was born with a body many girls envy. If I wanted attention, I'm fairly certain I'd get more if I kept on pretending to be a kawaii desu chick and flaunting around my womanly features. But instead I embrace who I really am and have learned to live with my 'deformities'. Even if I know I'll never be the complete man I should have been born as.
  
  I don't blame people for being skeptical of the idea (though if you are that skeptic, I'd suggest a good read for ya'), but some people are just so childish about it. It's kind of sad.
  
  If you really need to get all huffy puffy and justify hating or being iffy around them, then do so because of them as a person, not just because you refuse to comprehend the truth behind who they are.
  
  But if doin' a bit of research still leaves you feeling like your ignorance is just, then cool beans. It's just unfortunate that you care more about your own silly opinions that reading into the facts and learning to be open and accepting.

  Notwithstanding that you committted the error of dismissing mental disorders -such as paranoia, autism, schizophrenia, bipolar etc.-, this along with the OP's question suffers from the biased assumption that things are objectively wrong or right. They aren't wrong or right. They just are.
  
  If anything, two perfectly well functioning things are combined unfavourably for the involved individual, but that still doesn't make one or the other wrong. It's not about either being wrong, it's about the connection itself being unfavourable. It's like trying to put a perfectly fine cable into a perfectly fine slot, but ignoring that they have different types of connections. Both items are perfectly fine, it's the act of combining them that's the problem.
  
  The only thing that matters to me is that I see it's a problem for those affected, and I'm happy about any working solution to it. Whether that involves reassuring the affected individual about their physical sex or surgically modifying their physical sexual features to fit their sexual self-expectations I don't really care. Just take the one that is more cost-/efficient for the individual case and I'm fine.
  
  The OP's "it's for attention" hypothesis is a bit ridculous though. Are you talking about Drag Queens? That might be for attention sometimes, but doesn't equal transsexuality.

  Honestly, I don't think anybody is born in a wrong body. All your defects (i.e. born without a leg, born gay, born with a genetic defect), that's just what makes you. You're complete from the very beginning, even if you're born with defects.
  
  Is it wrong to want to change your body? No, of course not, especially if it brings you healthy (mental or physical).
  
  Some people are born without arms and can choose to get prosthesis. Similarly, someone can be born with a bad heart and can choose to get a healthier one. I can see the same applying to somebody born male, but wanting to be female, for the sake of their own mental stability.
  
  To them, being one sex is a defect to them and they wanna fix it. I think it's mostly mental, rather than "God put me in the wrong body." I don't believe in God, so. And I don't think natural selection makes mistakes when it comes to sex or gender. Or maybe. There's always hermaphrodites.
  
  It's a tricky subject.

  A few are assuming there's such a thing as a "right" body.
  
  There's no right or wrong body. There's just a body that you feel fits and reflects you the best. It could be a body of the opposite sex, it could be a hermaphrodite, it could be a horse, it could be a cyborg...

  Its all very confusing to me. I understand it, ive even had times myself when ive really really wanted to know what its like to be a girl. I thought it over a lot and i wouldn't trade, but i think i would understand how someone feels if they really really think they should be the opposite gender.
  
  It sounds like a very difficult subject. I wouldn't say its a defect, but rather just part of someones personality. They might feel that they relate more to another gender, or feel that there just not in the right body.
  
  I should really go to sleep and not think so much, ill miss school if i stay up all night.

  OFC I was born in the wrong body, my family is poor. I was supposed to be born in a body with rich parents.
