Global Lessons – The GPS Road Map for Saving Heath Care.
This is the the first in a series of four GPS “Global Lessons†specials. The special will run again Saturday, March 24th, at 8pm and 11pm ET/PT.
The health care special will take you around the world to show you how other nations manage their health care. We'll learn lessons from Britain, Switzerland and Taiwan. I'll show you just how expensive U.S. health care can be – for comparatively low-quality returns. And finally, I'll share my own thoughts on what we need to do to fix our system. Be sure to tune in. You can also join a live discussion on twitter during the special using the hashtag #SavingHealthCare.
The show's host, Fareed Zakaria, is a very intelligent guy. He provides some pretty interesting analysis and perspectives on various topics relating to geopolitics and economics. If you're into this stuff, or if you're interested in how the healthcare system works in the US and in other places around the world, you should tune in to CNN tonight. :)
If you don't have cable TV and/or don't wanna use it, CNN.com has an official
Live TV streaming to some participating ISPs. For those who have no access to the TV or official stream, there's an
unofficial stream (shady, I know, but it's for a good cause so I'll leave it posted for now!)
If enough people are interested in this and actually watch it (and if it actually turns out to be interesting), maybe we could have some sort of discussion about it. :3

If there's a good live streaming of it I might check it out.
I don't even have a TV.

I'll have to find a stream/torrent this later. Unfortunately the site doesn't have it available for streaming for my ISP.

This. I suppose it would be worth checking out. I'm up for anything that improves our health care.

I dislike these shady sites, but this is for a good cause, so I'll leave it on for now. u.u

It's ironic how they're showing medical product ads and saying they're covered by medicare. :P

It's on~
I pretty much agree with what's been said so far. If there's anything the government should be involved in, it's this. I think it's in our best interests. It's hard to type much during the commercial break so I might write more later as people start talking about this.

The Swiss sure have some nice hospitals. :P And it ends up costing their taxpayers less, too. o_o

I agree so strongly with everything. I was gonna make a post about the reason why it's not in our best interests to have it privately run is because people are out for a profit and, financially, it's less beneficial for them to invest a lot of time/money in preventative measures because it generates less business. Turns out they just mentioned that as well.

Indeed. The health providers and insurance firms are really loving these inflated health care costs.
But the part about an estimated 100,000 Americans dying every year due to infections they picked up in hospitals is insane. O_o;

Yeah... it's hard to believe in some ways, but in other ways not really. Some hospitals are really poorly taken care of.
I can't say I've been to a lot of hospitals, but even the "good" one I've been to a few times is in a pretty bad state. Considering it's a group of highly paid, highly educated professionals in their workplace, it really gives off the feeling of being something cheap and trashy.
