Type: TV
Episodes: 21
Producers: Kyoto Animation
Genres: Mystery
Oreki Hotaro is a high school boy, who always acts passively. One day, he enters "Koten Bu (Classic Literature Club)" as recommended by his elder sister.
There he meets Chitanda Eru, Fukube Satoshi, and Ibara Mayaka. Chitanda is a calm beautiful girl but she turns into an embodiment of curiosity once she says, "I'm interested in it (Watashi, Kininarimasu)". Fukube is a smiling boy with a fantastic memory, he never deduces anything on his own. Ibara is a short girl and is strict with others and herself. She loves Fukube, but he always dodges her approaches.
They begin to investigate a case that occurred 33 years ago. Hints of the mystery are buried in an old collection of works of the former members of Koten Club. The collection is titled "Hyouka".

The series is getting quite a bit of positive reception for it's quality. Well it is KyoAni.

Watched the first episode last night. It's really pretty and it looks like it could be interesting. It's hard to judge just based on the first episode though.

I'm not sure how I should think of the hair.

It might be some kind of metaphor for her drawing him in? His friend didn't seem affected. xD

Ah, no, I understand that her hair doesn't actually grow that long. I just don't think I've seen such a thing before.

The ending is nice. A little fan-service-y, but still pretty.
I want to know what this "confession" is, now. > <

Wasn't very happy with the answer to Ep2's history book question/mystery.

Also I like this drawing a lot.

I was starting to wonder what had happened to this thread. I know people that don't like this because the mysteries are too normal, but that's actually kind of nice for me. It's nice to have a sort of school life anime that isn't just cute characters being cute (though this anime does have that). Also, the art is still looking good.
The latest set of episodes were a pretty fun watch. It's great to see Oreki becoming more active. I'd still love to see more of his sister, though, since Houtarou did say she was a genius he couldn't outdo.

This is actually one of my top picks for shows airing right now. This and Kokoro Connect. I don't know how the Hyouka story actually goes, but I kind of wish that Houtarou would just either realize his feelings for Chitanda or... I dunno, something.

Its pretty good. I like it a lot. The latest one was uninteresting because it was about the Japanese language which I cannot relate to.
Similar to the "Words User" arc in Medaka Box where they're all fighting with Japanese words. Boring.

Oh my god. Their reaction to Houtarou actually wanting to do something was so good. Also the bike images. >>
The ending made me happy, too.
That being said, part of this little mystery he was curious about is actually kind of sad. After seeing the teacher's hopeful smile then finding out what happened to the stranded pair was saddening.
Also...Chitanda and Oreki would be cute together.
I like Hyouka. I don't like waiting for new episodes. It's a conflicting thing.
Some of the earlier mysteries weren't really mysteries.. too easy. The latest stuff is the good stuff.
