I thought Chitanda was really adorable at first but Mayaka really grew on me. She's so cuteeeeee.

I don't really like either of them
Well I like them but they're not like anything super special to me
I like that.. uhm. I actually forgot her name. She's the girl who showed them the movie.

The "better than thou" prick who manipulates other people.

Anyways, the reason why Chitanda seems to fall out of favor is because she's too honest of a character. Cute, but not at all interesting.

I dunno, I can see that she's a huge pain in the ass but goddamn she looks smart. I like that.
Yeah, Chitanda's a bit of a "flat character". She doesn't really have a quirk or anything. She had that moment of history with her uncle which added a bit of depth but she's still a pretty standard "cutesy perfect character".

I like Chitanda, even if she is a bit flat. I think she serves a purpose, especially in terms of interacting with Oreki. She can be a bit of an airhead, which I find endearing more than annoying. She's aware of herself and her personality, and what works for her, but at the same time, she's unaware of how she affects Houtarou, which I find funny. I think she's cute, I have no reason to actually dislike her. In terms of flat characters, I'd rather have her than Bella Swan.

Looks like the whole thing takes place in a single room. The best part of this episode was probably the variety in Oreki's expressions. There were some really nice ones.

I dunno, I don't like the whole gotta-hate-twilight thing that a lot of people have. It's become a bandwagon thing. Before the movie came out and everyone started shitting on it, the book was pretty decent. She was by no means a flat character.

No. I genuinely just cannot thing of a worse character I've read than Bella, unless it's in that amazing "My Immortal" fanfiction that puts me in tears every time I read it. Bella is pretty flat. Oddly enough, she gets better in the (first half) of Breaking Dawn. Otherwise she's just a whiny pushover whose real purpose is for people to be able to insert themselves into her. I have a lot of issues with that series that aren't even restricted to her, too. I also used her because considering how well-known the series is people would probably know who I'm talking about.

I'm just saying, I just don't think she's a flat character. But that's just my opinion, so whatever.
I find that animes have a lot more characters that just feel flat simply because you don't get to see inside their heads, or hear backgrounds. Chitanda's a pretty stereotypical "cute" anime character. There's not much to her, whereas whether you had problems or not with Twilight there were a lot of facets to the personalities of the characters.

Chitanda's still a pretty flat character. The difference between her and Bella is that Bella is a whiny, selfish, rude, mean character with no goal other than to be validated by her boyfriend. I only like her in Breaking Dawn for a relatively short while because she stands up to Edward and actually sticks through with what she wants.

I don't think you get what I'm saying o_o
I'm saying Chitanda is a completely flat character.
And even though you might hate Bella, she's not a flat character.

I get what you're saying, I just don't entirely agree. To add to that, even if she were a flat character, I'd still find Bella shallow and one-dimensional and I'd still hate Bella and like Chitanda. Chitanda is curious and endearing and Bella is a self-absorbed walking pile of lack of passion for anything other than a sexy shiny vampire boyfriend
