I love your sig.
Anyway, I used to notice this but I don't think it's really... "reliable" any more but whenever a ballista hits and he spins in a 360 while circling the field, the next shot would usually bring him down.

Yeah, I've survived quite a few times - sometimes I only take like 500 damage O_O (That's with 1 Mana Shield)
As for the +8 Event, don't even think about it T_T
I could only see it useful for really rare and powerful items. Like level 70 equipment.
I like to consider myself good at the ballista ... But sometimes the dragon jerks unexpectantly, causing me to miss QQ
Therefore, I tend to focus on building and holy water refilling. And Reviving ... and Healing. So much to do!
Of course, my favorite thing to do is get on the ballista when the Dragon is flying. Knocking it down just feels so amazing :D
The dragon is only at level 40 - so have fun :awesome:
Phew, Probably ain't gonna get past Ainle anyway.

I thought three was the magic number? His spinning may have to do with his number of arrows stuck on him ...

I'm also fairly certain spinning removes a ballistae shot. He also seems to be less likely to fall if multiple shots hit him at the same time, likely due to lag.
Then again the number of times he flies over the stage is random, so it's best to play it safe.

If the dragon is that difficult, it makes me wonder how future raids will be for level 200s.

It really isn't that difficult. I've seen plenty of people hit in the 15%+ region before, which is more than enough.
I mean now I don't even see the Dragon as a big enough threat to force me into a defence set.

It does, and yep. I just try and have the mentality of knocking it down ASAP - while still being accurate.

Heh heh.~
Someone is feeling more confident then? :D

Well, worst case scenario is that I force everyone to use feathers on me.
That and the biggest threat of the dragon are things that would one shot you most of the time (i.e. most of his flying moves, DoT). So it's best to just go all out.

Lol. I won't say anything - since you revived me that one time XD

Do you find yourself being one-shotted, even with your higher DEF set?

I do believe I can still get one shot by the carpet bomb (whatever people call it now) flame attack. But that damage is always so random and sometimes it can do 2k+ and sometimes it does 200. I really can't tell why. Same thing with his other flying fireballs.
Defence also doesn't affect DoT damage, so rocks still eat away at my HP rapidly.
Considering most of the time I only get hit by rocks or flying moves, most other things are irrelevant. The other major factor is that the raid has greatly reduced SP gain, meaning that you don't get enough chances to spin2win while tanking in order for the lowered attack to be offset.

"Napalm" is the most common term I've heard being used.
And yeah - the damage is really random >.<

Being inside of a shelter gives you that buff.
I think one of the components of said buff was a 250% SP gain? So, that might be something to think about - if you weren't aware.

Well I know that. But the thing is the base SP rate is still much lower, so the 250% SP doesn't even begin to offset this. Against certain normal bosses, I can get a full SP bar within 2 minutes easily. Dragon takes about 10-15 minutes even with occasional buff usages.
The thing is Fiona probably has the best SP gain in the game (all her blocks give so much SP), so you normally have to consider SP usage in your normal gameplay. In other raids it's easy enough to reach 5000-7000 SP used. Dragon throws this out the window though, so it actually detracts from defence stacking (for Hammer Fiona at least) due to the requirement of being in Slashing High to maximize DPS.

Ah okay. Just checking :fail:

Never knew that. That's why I feel so special when I can get off a Regeneration off in the Dragon fight.
Sometimes I think that my SP
decreases during the Dragon fight. I believe it's due to getting hit by the Black Orb AOE.
I might be crazy, so I'll pay more attention the next time I run.

It doesn't. I often save a full bar of SP for Slashing High when the dragon is downed, and my bar doesn't move at all (even if I get hit by rocks). There are very few SP drain status effects in the game, and many of them occur early on (with the only endgame example being Succubus).

It might just be me, but out of all the characters, Lann builds SP the fastest in Dragon. (I don't play a beast Fiona to compare, so I might be wrong.)
