San Diego --
A college student picked up in a federal drug sweep in California was never arrested or charged. Instead, authorities say, he was forgotten in a holding cell for four days.
Without food, water or access to a toilet, Daniel Chong had to drink his own urine to survive and began hallucinating after three days because of a lack of nourishment, his lawyer said.
"He nearly died," Eugene Iredale said. "If he had been there another 12 to 24 hours, he probably would have died."
William R. Sherman, the top Drug Enforcement Administration agent in San Diego, apologized Wednesday for Chong's treatment and said in a news release that he was "deeply troubled" by what happened to Chong. Sherman promised an investigation into how agents could have forgotten about him.
Chong intends to seek damages from the DEA and may file a lawsuit against the government, Iredale said.

That's terrible. He should sue. There is no reason why that should have happened. No reason at all.

Woooow, that's pretty horrible. Yeah in this case, I can't blame him at all for filing a lawsuit.

God, I can't sit still in a classroom for an HOUR, let alone an empty cell for 4 days. Sue, sue, sue

How do you even forget someone in a holding cell? They're not exactly hermetically sealed, as far as I understand.

Looks like he's suing for 20 million. Open and shut case imo. Not sure how DEA could even defend themselves.

I'd stay in a holding cell for 4 days for $20,000,000.

I do not expect a citizen of another country to understand
America = sue happy
besides if he wins
7 or 8 mill of that goes to the lawyer
another prob few thousand to fees
so its more like 12 million and change

20 million dollars worth of compensation? The average human life is valued at less than 500k.

And of course, there's the whole mental anguish of almost dying!
Certainly that plays a role in the 20 million ... somehow.
[S]That's way too much money.[/S] But, this shouldn't even have happened in the first place :/

.. actually I can kinda see you drinking your own piss for this
not literally
and the only issue I have with him possibly winning 20million, is that he's a pothead
as far as I know
