  I'm going by the Nexon formula. Look at Maple story and all the new characters are vastly superior to the old ones even with revamps. New characters will be better to gain more attention. This does follow the Nexon gear to win formula now with a dash of skill. It'll be a safe guess that she will be overpowered in the melee department, that's how new characters gain attention. If Karok was overpowered as Kai or Hammer Fiona/Staff Evie he would be more popular. People tend to flock to the easy and more powerful character. Hence the interest in Kai and the great population of Staff Evies.
  
  In the description it says that she's just as strong sword lann but easier. That already proves that she'll be better then Sword Lann already.

  In the middle of the battle, by chance a puzzle event will start and you must clear the objective before the time runs out.
  It will give a spcical rewards if you clear it so.
  
  
  There are mulitple kinds of [Macha's Test]
  For example, you must eliminate every mobs thats spawned in time to clear,
  or the test by colours, and hunting down the running mobs and so on.

  Player will obtain a treasure map after finishing the battle, and player must find where the treasure is if player wants the reward.

  If there was a straight formula of "new is better" than they would make Karok straight up better than the other characters, but he isn't.
  
  Even after the season 2 revamp, he still isn't clearly better.
  
  They would've also made scythe Evie clearly better than Fiona at the very least, but she isn't.
  
  They also nerfed Kai, while keeping staff Evie the same, and buffing all the melees.

  Kai is still top dps according to lagerowonder. The revamp didn't change all the apparent roles. It changed some and it was a lazy revamp with only 2 character getting the bulk of changes. Apparently the nerf wasn't enough and Pillar karok has one of the top dps potential if in the right hands especially with more lenient absorb shock. I might have contradicted myself, but the point is Nexon makes more money and get more publicity for the game making overpowered new characters.

Kai might have been overpowered at release, but he's only been getting nerfs, not buffs. Eventually they're going to find a good balance for him either by buffing the melees or nerfing Kai enough, but by constantly nerfing Kai, they are doing the exact opposite of garnering attention for him, since no one wants to play a character that's just going to keep getting hammered by nerfs.

  Also not true since she didn't get buffed or nerfed with Season 2 Ignition update.
  
  Unless you count adjusting Healing Corona/Regeneration to actually be useful post-Season 2 Ignition HP fixes a buff.

  I'm sure a character like that will appear eventually...as of now there are still a few options for new characters with completely different skills but they'll run out of ideas sooner or later--probably sooner rather than later. Female Karok in our futures...I see it.

  The twin sword thing is a little cheesy for obvious reasons, so hopefully it plays more like a dagger assassin to at least offer a completely unique style.

  Control difficulty : Similar difficulty with Lann when going on the offensive, yet easier for survival.
  
  Design Concept : Captivating looks with her sexy charms. Outfits designed around sailing styles.
  
  Personality : Chic, ambitious yet a bit stuck up.
  
  
  
  Vella is planned to be released in a similar time frame as Season 2 but whether it will be on the same date is yet undecided.
  
  Although it isn’t decided that she will be updated at the same date as Season 2, she is planned to be released during Summer 2012.
  
  
  
  The release for Vella actually had been foretold by the NPC scripts added with the recent update.
  
  If a player talked to the Strange Traveler while holding 401 gold a message saying ‘Be prepared. The April Fools girl is coming’ will appear.
  
  
  
  The design for the new character for Season 2 was based on several famous movie actresses and models to give her the image of having a stuck up yet confident personality with mesmerizing charms.
  
  The challenge of controlling her was planned to be on a similar level with Lann yet , with her evasion being easy to use, with a lower difficulty on survival.
  
  The biggest difference with her survival ability with Lann is her Counter Attack. If it is used at the exact moment of an incoming attack, the attack will be deflected and she will return damage to the assailant. This unique survival skill for Vella will be more difficult to use than her evasion skill.
  
  If it is just for survival, her evasion will be the easier choice to go with but her Counter Attack should be used in order to maximize her effectiveness in battle.
  
  So basically it’s easy to simply survive with her but in order to achieve her maximum potential you need to take the risk of using Counter Attack over Evasion.
  
  
  
  Vella was planned for a long time like Kai and development for her started during late 2011.
  
  With the complaints on the gender-lock in mind, Vella was planned as a female character with similar traits with Lann.
  
  But besides the fact that she uses Dual Swords her combat motions, smash skills, survival skills, etc are designed as a whole new character.
  
  
  
  Only a small portion of her info was revealed in the interview but her promotional video and additional details are planned to be released soon.

  While I still hate the character design, I might end up using her if her Parry/Counter is any good. I love counters, and the problem with Fiona's counter is that they are absolutely worthless at this point in the game, especially given how they only work on normals and the stun is pretty useless now. I mean I only use Small Shield on Colru and Elchulus now.
  
  Though it sounds completely broken if she can evade better than Lann, but also counter more things than Fiona. I'm holding onto the hope that her smashes are less powerful, she's reliant on the counter for damage, and the counter is hard to pull off. That's the only way I can see this being balanced.
