If you want to login securely you still can, by going to the login page and then adding "https" instead of "http" in the url, manually, and press enter to load the page in HTTPS and accept any warnings about insecure content.
The rest of the site won't have HTTPS in any convenient way since vbulletin does not use relative paths, it's either one or the other.
obsolete message bellow

Mabination.com now has an SSL certificate (via godaddy) installed and operational.
For you less technically inclined folks it means https instead of http:

This means that mabination.com is now encrypted when you browse it. The traffic can not (easily) be observed by packet sniffers or other network monitoring tools.
The following content is encrypted:
- Your login sessions
- Text on all pages, including private messages, threads/posts, and any other text that is on mabination.com itself, so long as you see "https" in the address bar.
- All images and other media hosted on mabination.com (examples: the layout graphics and emoticons).
- The ads. The ads are not encrypted by mabination but they are served via https from google's servers. This also applies for google analytics, which collects traffic data.
Content that is not encrypted:
- Any embeded videos (such as youtube) on threads/posts/PMs/Visitor Messages and the front page.
- Any embeded images not hosted on mabination, this includes signatures and IMG tags in threads/posts/PMs/Visitor messages and the front page.
- Anything else not hosted on mabination.

[SIZE="3"]What does this all mean?[/SIZE]
It basically means that if something is hosted directly on mabination.com, it's now very difficult for anyone not looking at your screen to know what you're looking at. However they will still know that a youtube video or an image was loaded because those are not hosted on mabination.
The main advantages to this are security when you're browsing on open networks such as wifi or school/work networks. People won't be able to steal your login details or know the contents of posts/PMs you browse by analyzing network traffic.
Another advantage is that some website blockers will no longer be able to find key words on Nation because it is no longer readable to them. However these are very poorly done website blockers, most good ones will use other methods and still block it via DNS, proxy or other tricks.
And yes, the SSL is forced. I don't want the hassle (read: stupidity) of running the site in both http and https, when the whole point is for https to be in effect.
[SIZE="3"]I have insecure content pop-ups, or the https has a red X on it, or a yellow error icon over it![/SIZE]

This is normal in the case of a forum (refer to the list of content that is not encrypted). An SSL certificate is designed to keep the content of a web page encrypted and secured from others on the network. However, mabination is a website with user-generated content that is hosted on external servers. That means that specific content is not encrypted, and so your browser is doing its job and warning you about this.
These messages can be ignored. The content on mabination itself is encrypted.
On Firefox and IE, there probably will not even be a warning. On Chrome you will at first get a popup bar on top of the window saying if you want to load the content anyways, so do that to not get bothered anymore. Afterwards the https in the address bar will be crossed out in red or have a yellowtriangular error icon on top of it. If you click on there, chrome will explain the situation.
If you have any questions this is the thread for it.
