In terms of range, Wing Bow Ego.
In terms of melee, bastard/gladius ego. I suppose if you want to smash or something, dustin sword, but 2hander type egos don't deal as much damage as one hand egos, especially if powerful enchants comes out.
Magic don't get much benefit from egos... so, nothing there.
Also, it isn't fair to compare elf range to human range. Elf range is so much better in terms of damage than human range.

Don't follow what the pros say. Follow what YOU want.
It is your character after all.

For giants, broad axe or mace?

Range = Wingbow.
Combat= Bastard Sword, Dustin Sword (Depending on the playstyle: WM Heavy: Bastard sword, Smash Heavy: Dustin ego. It's a preference.)
Giant Combat= Broad axe, Battle Mace (Broad axe wins on dmg, but Mace wins on splash range and crit.)
Magic= Wand egos aren't an entirely bad choice if you insist on -pure- mage. They add a bit of dmg corresponding to their str lvl, however it hardly will make a difference with adv magics. Fire wand ego when I researched was something about 50 extra dmg at 40(regarding basic bolts, not adv magic.) Imo more research needs to be done on these. If not I reccomend endgame you just go hybrid or something.

In the terms of whats -best- Dustin beats it... barely. 2hander's max at 40(40 my data on the dustin is only up to 40 atm) 212, dustin is 213 >w> <w< >w>. Hurrah for the 1 point of damage. In terms of practicality 2hander would win.

Google search gogo
Prefix Willow: +10 crit, +2 min, +12 max, -70 stam, 2x repair cost, personalize on enchant
found on
this guy's blog thing.
Edit:
Totaling all of these numbers together we have an attack of 394 max. This equates to a critical windmill worth ~3400 damage! (Smash: 6.8k crit)
Alternatively, if we were to substitute a max damage Dustin Silver Knight Sword ego (+240 max) we would have a max attack of 477! (This is 7.2k crit smash and 3k crit wm)
Off-topic note: We can see that for smashing, the ego Dustin is better by ~400 dmg, while dual wield is much better for windmill by about the same amount.
Notice how the gap between 2H and maximized dual wield
does get severely reduced as your non-weapon damage grows. Since spamming Smash will
always have a higher average damage than spamming Windmill on single mobs, people who don't value splash or stun at all should at least recognize this as useful.

I still think LLB is the best bow, it has more Max damage, and you wont be relying on that critical to save your ass. Its also better because of the availability of repairs, all in all, i wouldnt change my LLB for anything :P

The chunk of Windmill's offensive capability isn't in its 1v1 uses but rather its damage against multiple enemies...
Pretty sure when I was ganging up with partymates on a boss or something, I've died more smashing it than WMing it.

I've met a lot of people who just Windmill-Windmill-Windmill, even on single targets...

Misread that the first time through...
Problem is that most people don't know how to group play with Smash. I still Smash in parties, but around certain people that don't understand stun mechanics (Windmilling right after Smash will cancel out the stun, letting the enemy attack the Smasher instantly / Smashing at the wrong moment has an identical effect) I just join in on Windmilling. However, that's still much slower than throwing in a Smash here and there unless you have a flurry of Windmills going off (at least 3-4 people).
You can usually tell who knows how to delay attacks properly pretty quickly.

My build is a WM build due to Their Method.
Smashless due to sacrificial. My WM > F Smash.

Blaze doesn't need Ice Spear to be a great skill. If you rule out parties and pet play, you can still 2+Blaze for well over 2000 damage non-crit in hard.
As for Frozen Blast, failing to freeze a target is a huge drawback if you're using it without a party since it still causes aggro and you can't move.
Blaze without ice spear is the only practical way to get MULTIPLE knockdown hits. You can do that on one monster, but all the other monsters receive ~450 damage but with the 4 second cooldown, it'll probably take awhile to kill everything just by using 2+Blaze.
