In Ni no Kuni you actually walk down stairs. It's not the same walk animation on a slant like other games, he slows down and takes each step. I don't know why I love it so much but it's fuckin sick.

It is, but there are some really good hardcore mods that really improve on the survival aspect of the game. Check the Nexus.
