Quote from Phunkie;915055:
We need guns to protect us.
It's not just about the criminals. It's about the government.
If no citizen of the United States (as in, the non-government officials) had guns, the government could easily do whatever the fuck they want with us. We wouldn't be able to defend ourselves from them. It's not just about criminals.
Of course, things like these happen, unfortunately. I say we need stricter security laws in public places like these. But it's impossible to prevent situations like these, however. It's just the sad reality.
RIP.
Here we go with this fictional scenario that Americans would be overrun by a Nazi-like government and guns are needed to protect themselves.
Where was the NRA when Bush signed the Patriot Act limiting American freedoms?
Oh yeah, the NRA supported Bush!
The irony is the ones who supported guns are the ones who supported tyranny.
If the Americans had their government overrun, a couple of guns are no match for a nuclear bomb.
Second Amendment states:
A
well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Note the word "well regulated" meaning there have to be rules in place to bear arms.
The way things are in America its pretty much a free for all when it comes to owning guns.
As a Canadian, I cannot understand why Americans are so afraid of stricter gun controls.
In Canada, we have a more regulated gun laws which haven't lead to dictatorship government.
Given the passive response from Americans on this enacting new gun laws - I sometimes wonder if Americans haven't gone crazy.
