Quote from Chiri;101253:
Onemanga put scanlators into a similar position that Itchy did at Mabiguru. Scanlators did all the work of translating, editing, and QCing. Then Onemanga comes along, throws the scanlator's work online, and bathes in the ad-money. $9000 of ad-money a day, to be more accurate.
Scanlators do all their work for free, without making any profit.
They do everything for the fans, pretty much.
Onemanga creates a middleman between the scanlators and the fans, then profits off of this.
I'm happy that they're closing down.
Onemanga was doing something wrong but so are scanlators.
It's like one thief complaining that another thief stole the item he just stole from someone else.
If it was original work, and one manga took it and put it online that would be another matter. However the main goal of scanlating is for the fans of the manga to have access to it, be it because there is no english version or because an english version can't be obtained in certain areas. The distribution doesn't matter when something is considered charitable, which is what I consider scanlations to be.
When it comes to distribution and whose hosting one no one except the publisher/original artist has a right to complain about scanlations/fansubs.
It's not like I disagree with scanlations, I support piracy in all of it's forms including real life hijacking of ships. I just don't like how one group of thieves whine about other thieves stealing something that they themselves stole to begin with.

Eh, I moved to Mangatoshokan after the mature thing. Then Toshokan got shut down. D:
I will say, my Mabi playtime has increased 1,358% after Toshokan got shut down. No more randomly going through manga lists and just reading everything. And downloading is annoying (to me), so only the series I like enough to remember the names of I DL now.

Anyone knows another site that has a nice and simple layout and updates very frequently?
I'm tired of mangafox's layout D:!

I'll be on the other side of the fence, mostly because I was a scanlator, and I know a lot of time goes into scanlating.
To make a comparison.
Robin Hood goes and steals food from the rich.
He leaves the food out in the open for others people to take and enjoy it.
Someone (A) comes along, grabs all the food, and starts charging for it, albeit cheaply.
People love this new person A. Some fans even donate their own money to A. Even though A didn't put themselves in any danger.
It's not a perfect analogy, but Robin Hood has a right to be unhappy about the situation.

Lol... all i'll say is:
Screw OneManga. they were practically the ones to start removing "inappropriate" manga, and i think mangafox or mangatoshoken is better.

Aww... I've always enjoyed reading from Onemanga. They always delivered fast and good. It's a real shame how it has to go, now I have to look for another good manga site.

They're really cracking down.
I'm not a big fan of mangafox, mostly because of the lack of organization... But its like one of my few last options at this point.
