  [spoiler]I think he's waiting until she messes up and makes bending look bad. He did say he didn't want her to become a martyr, and I don't see any other way aside from her messing up really badly. Maybe if she goes into the avatar state she'll lose control and thrash something. [/spoiler]

  I like the fact that not everything is one big war. Particularly since while fighting is still a huge part of her current struggle, unlike with Aang, there's a lot more social and political undertones that are keeping it from being a constant episodic "Fight of the week". This is in stark contrast to pacifist Aang, who found himself always having to fight because the time for words had long since passed.
  
  I think the pacing's also a lot better in TLoK than it was in TLA. Trust me; the big conflict is coming, and it will be both well-handled, well-paced, and glorious.
  
  Random thoughts on the episode:
  
  -The romance this time around feels considerably less awkward than it did in the first season. It also feels more genuine, as I have an easier time believing it. It might be a little rushed, but it never feels forced.
  -"I'm the avatar, and I love you--and you gotta deal with it!" Confessions, Korra-style.
  -I never much cared for Sokka from the first season. So I am so damn glad that we have Bolen here, so that when I try to explain it I can say Bolen is Sokka done right. Also, poor Bolen. :( But there are still 20 episodes to go! Don't give up! XD
  -I'm glad the cocky guy they'll be facing in the finals isn't just all talk. I will be sorely disappointed if he's a cheater, rather than being just that formidable.
  -I'm one of the few people who believes that not only will there be more to Asami, but that it won't be the predictable "She's obviously a manipulative villain" character. I also need to remind people that not every female character in the first series was a strong portrayal--Princess Yue only existed as a plot device for sacrifice (and technically marriage and Sokka's love interest).
  -I do believe this makes the first episode where Tenzen did not make a physical appearance.
  -I am continually reminded that the people behind TLoK have learned a lot since TLA and are constantly applying it for the better.

  Yeah. If this is a kind of filler episode, it's an important one to show the characters' interactions. It's nice to see that they can be awesome as a team, and it's cool to see some Bolin moments, not just the comedy moments, but the ones where he shows his skills. It's nice to see that this relationship isn't going to be all angst, either.

  Last Sunday, I sat my family down and surprised them with Episode 1, 2, and 3.
  So, today I'll show them Epsiode 4 and 5.
  
  I'm really excited to watch them - needless to say. I really enjoy the dialogue and the expressions of the characters are really great! It's like every character serves a purpose, even the minor "comic relief" ones.
  
  One thing I noticed was after re-watching Epsiode 2, the first pro-bending match. The one without Korra. Where they suddenly turn the tables around and win? I almost thought it felt like someone was helping them behind the scenes. I thought it was Korra originally, but apparently not ...
  
  Also, Amon just has this huge Messiah complex. The anti-bending rally was just creepy ... especially with those chiblockers and those electrical weapons.

  Okay so...I've been away a while and I've been trying not to read the thread (I've missed every episode since I last posted)

  Okay so I've watched 4 and 5 (cant wait for 6) I don't really have much to input that's already been discussed other then the litter chart that explained energy bending that was put up and I must agree that he probably is faking but we have no way of knowing if that chakara can be unblocked (if at all).

  Well, Aang got his unblocked with a lucky, but very painful-looking blow, and it was supposed to be gone forever. Hard to say.
