Things should never be more difficult or complex than they must be.

Are people not allowed to use boxes as logos now? Do you seriously want to boycott microsoft because they changed their logo? Geez.
It's not just their logo. Windows 8 is a failboat waiting to happen. Until they stop trying to merge two completely different platforms I'll never really like Microsoft. I only use a windows machine because no game company will develop for mac's.

Really? I doubt it'll be
that bad, but I haven't checked up on it in a while.
It just seems like it came so quickly. I got Windows 7 like... 3 years ago? Windows XP was around forever.

Windows XP is an anomaly.. I mean, that stuff's almost 11 years old. Computer-related technology rarely remains relevant this long! Of course, there's nothing wrong with being conservative if things are working fine, but tech moves on and it's nice to be able to take advantage of all the hard work the engineers have been pouring into the new software. Can't wait to install Windows 8 on this system. :P

I think Windows 7 could last that long if Windows 8 doesn't do a good enough job. All it takes is one OS that doesn't do so well and its lifespan is extended for years.

A box...4 boxes...
So this is what my professor was talking about, I think the logo just died. :c
Well whatever, microsoft is so well known that it doesn't matter what logo they have :I

Windows XP lasted so long because Vista was absolute crap and some people aren't comfortable with the icon sporting Windows 7.
If what everyone has been telling me about Windows 8 is true, it's going to crash and burn like no tomorrow.

You were told things by noobs. Ignore 'em!
Windows 8 = performance improvements, plain and simple. The new UI is a matter of personal taste, but I think that even the haters will learn to accept it and get over it soon enough.

The logo looks entirely too simplistic, but it's not like logos really matter. People take such trivial things so seriously nowadays. We should complain about stuff like how Windows 8 was "made simpler" (aka completely wrecked and dumbified) rather than how the logo was made simpler; I just hope that stuff is fixed before it's actually released. Windows 7 UI mode plz.
Although I haven't seen a "looks like Apple's font" post in here. That's relieving not to see ^_^

If you make an Apple like font, they'd probably sue your ass. Don't get me started on Apple...

I've been using Windows 8 on my laptop for a while now, in a production environment on a daily basis and it works great. And I'm not even on the final build I'm using the release preview still. The only issue I have is the console for the vsphere client doesn't work but that's not a huge thing and should be fixed pretty soon.

I'll wait until they refine it. Still not fond of their metro look. Can you permently switch it so you can chuck the metro look?

Not as of right now, AFAIK. You always boot to the start screen, but you can click a tile to go to the desktop instantly. Those who are cynical can complain that the process costs them an extra click. Those who are more open minded can probably put the tiles to good use. :P
