Art Commission?

  Well been wondering about this for a bit but wondered well...I've looked around the forums for awhile now and liked for the most part what I've seen. What I plan to do is have a little contest? where you guys can show off your talents and for the best piece I will give a monetary prize! Of course art is in the eye of the beholder so what I think is best would be different then what you might think. To that end I'll also have a poll on the best piece overall based on the communitie's opinion and to that winner I will also give a monetary prize! So...what do you guys think? Would you be interested in this?
  
  Oh also almost forgot. Basically the reason I would be doing this is so I could get a kickass picture of my character lol. So well I don't have to spell that out for ya right? :P

  Personally I think there should be a stickied thread listing all the threads and members who take commissions.

  You could always visit Nexon forums. There are many great artists there too that take paid and also free commissions.

  That's one reason why I don't participate in such thread. Its an easy method in obtaining bunch of requests without compensating each artist for their work.

  Drawing style brings attention
  Attention brings popularity
  Popularity brings customers
  Customers brings commission/request
  Commission/request brings pressure
  Pressure brings change of game plan.
  Change of game plan brings "stop taking requests"
  
  Im not 100% sure what made her stop but if I was in her position, taking continuous requests for Mabinogi fanart, I would probably get tired of it and move on. Dealing with a similar design concept and characters, dealing with people who would rather pay in-game currency than real $, and maybe people that try to haggle the price.
  
  So far the person I see doing a very smooth job on commissions would be http://tehbuttercookie.deviantart.com/ . The commissions are very simple, easily done, and has the style that makes you want one made.

  Worst case scenario, all the entries are done by people who never draw and don't understand human figures. The event holder gets a bunch of works done on paper pencil taken with a cheap camera, which also gets uploaded in low quality. The requester had no choice but to try to find the best and give the reward or ditch his event

  Well didn't know exactly how I should go about it, that's the reason why I didn't upload a picture or anything :P
  How would you recommend going about this? o.o
  Like I've never tried to commission anything because I have confidence in my own drawings abilities...if its in color pencil or reg pencil. Anything done with an art tablet...Im kinda hopeless.
  
  Hell I'm looking more of how much you(artists) would want so I could get a picture done!
