bah this seems to be the main thread
might as well repost with gamecube game suggestions
giving feedback on what listed
PS1:
-legend of dragoon. underrated jrpg
-Megaman Legends 2. pretty much a superior sequel in terms of gameplay to the original since the camera is lockon the cat thinks. Also can move and attack at same time.
-Suikoden. 1 has lots of characters and very little grinding.
-Medievil. good halloween game. sequel is good too if you have time.

-King of fighters 98/99. Obviously fighting games but they're the good ones.
-Brave Fencer Musashi. basically action game with some comedy. Solve puzzles and have lots of weird fighting abilities

-Crash team racing. Ripoff of mario kart derp but it has Crash bandicoot items. Still fun
-Final Fantasy Tactics. best gameplay for a final fantasy game. Mix up classes and stuff
-Front mission 3. Basically final fantasy tactics gameplay with Mechas. and faster
-Thousand Arms. meh as a JRPG but the humor and ecchi is the main reason to try
you date waifus to upgrade your sword.

-Grandia. good combat system and story is nice. It's a happy jrpg though

-Harvest Moon: Back to Nature has a lot of stuff to do. but it's extremely difficult and grindy.
-Vagrant story. JRPG with good story and takes place in same universe as FFXII and Final Fantasy Tactics
-Megaman X4. pretty much the best of the X series
-Breath of Fire 3. good jrpg but the game is rather long.
-resident evil 2 is the recommended out of 1-3 if you don't have time. you dont really miss out on the story since lots of people know the canon for RE anyways
N64
-Jet force gemini. great third person shooter with lots of weapons.
-Kirby 64: Crystal Shards. really fun kirby game where you can combine two abilities.
-Mario Party 2 and 3 are better than 1.
-Ogre Battle 64. Really long Strategy JRPG but the story and gameplay is well worth it.
-Perfect Dark. like Goldeneye in gameplay but better and has a variety of weapons. Play as a secret agent and do secret agent stuffs like shooting cameras and knocking out people.
-Pokemon stadium 2 is better than 1 because it also has Gen 2 pokemon. and items
-Rayman 2. Great 3d platformer
Gamecube
-Animal crossing. very fun "life sim" with animal neighbors. However, you have to put in a lot to get a lot out of it. In the cat's opinion, the holidays are more fun than the DS version. If you don't have patience or want rare furniture, there's ingame cheats.

Go to Tom Nook's shop and say codes.
-Baiten Katos: Eternal wings and lose ocean very good jrpg. fast paced combat that uses a card system. The story and characters are enjoyable (and the soundtrack too). Origins is the second game but the prequel
-Billy Hatcher. One of Sonic team's
original games, which is pretty rare since they keep making Sanic gaems. It's a decent for one playthrough
-Chibi robo: basically play as a tiny robot cleaning up a house. Gameplay's nice.
-Custom robo: The gameplay is nice. Basically people fighting with mechas but in a virtual battlefield (think Megaman NT warrior). Story has nice humor but it's only worth one playthrough. The afterstory is only for the gameplay
-Eternal Darkness. Amazing survival horror game. You need to playthrough 3 times to see true ending but each playthrough is different
-Fire emblem: path of radiance. Basically a 3d fire emblem. The gameplay is okay but the RNG screws you over hard. Protip: skip combat animations. the models used for characters are all ugly and the animations are really dull.
-Gladius: a game where you train gladiators to fight in the arena.
-Kirby air rider: unfortunately this game is most fun as a multiplayer. But still, the game is amazing as a singleplayer.
-Killer7. A hit or miss. Very weird characters that have charm.
-LoZ: Wind waker. Amazing and beautiful art style. The cat would put this as one of the top 3D zeldas. You get to ride on a boat and explore the ocean and shit. The game doesnt have a lot of dungeons but the islands make up for it. If you love 100%ing games, this game has a lot of stuff for you to do then. Lots of sidequests to get statues, bottles, heart containers etc. Easy game but no one plays Zelda games for the difficulty (there's always the 3 hearts challenge)
-LoZ: Twilight Princess. The Gamecube port is pretty good and has amazing graphics (for a gamecube game). Just that it doesnt have the 16:9 resolution of the Wii version. This is the version the game is meant to be played as though, with a better camera and traditional Zelda controls. The only problem is that the dungeons are very similar in design compared to previous 3d zeldas (you can see it if you played OoT after twilight princess). Still a good game.
-Paper Mario: Thousand Year door. PLAY THIS. the most fun turn-based RPG ever. The humor is amazing and the characters are all likeable. There's lot of sidequests to get awesome badges. Protip: level up badge points only. health and flower points are pointless once you got the timing for the super parry down. Basically if you press B right before being attacked, you get NO DAMAGE AND HURT THE ATTACKER FOR ONE DAMAGE. also there's badges that increase health and flower points. Out of all games suggested, this is the most fun.
-Luigi's Mansion. The Gamecube's first game. which is impressive as the gameplay is really fun and unique. Collecting money and catching ghosts.
-Mario Kart: double dash. Unfortunately, only fun as a multiplayer. but the two kart system is amazing since you can play with people who arent good at mario kart. (although Mario Kart is 90% luck).
-Mega Man X collection. The X series are better than the original Mega Man games except for maybe Mega Man 2. Best X game is X4 though.
-Metroid Prime. FPS with samus. lots of exploration and the soundtrack is amazing.
-Skies of Arcadia. Good JRPG
-Starfox adventures. Not a Starfox game at all. It's a nice action RPG with some exploration. Hit or miss with people
-Starfox assault. Only good parts of game are Arwing missions... and thats it.
-Super Mario Sunshine. Basically a 3d mario platformer using a water shooter thing (FLUDD). very fun
-Super Monkey Ball. Best as multiplayer game
-Tales of symphonia. Great action JRPG
-Viewtiful Joe. Very fun action game with slow-mo and stuff. Humor is a nice touch
-F-zero. really hard but fun racing game
SNES
-Kirby Super Star: Very fun Kirby game with lots of levels and abilities.
-Chrono Trigger: good JRPG that doesnt seem very linear.
-Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2. amazing platformer
-LoZ: link to the past. One of the better 2D Zeldas. Lots of sidequests and dungeons. Very unique gameplay.
-Super Mario RPG. Pretty much the SNES "Paper mario" in terms of combat. The game has nice humor. Short for a RPG though
-Super Mario World. Basically a 2d mario game with nice levels
