It looks like it'll take a bit more time before I have the proper gear and team to be able to do some of the more advanced parts of the game right now though. Mostly nexus raids so I can actually get some t14 gear.
The elin heavy armor set for t14 is really fantastic looking.

Please tally up all the rebirths, premium rebirths, premium service, pets, and nx items such as dyes that you've used throughout your entire mabinogi life and see how that scales up to paying 15 dollars a month.
I've found that on average, f2p games will sap far more money out of you than p2p model games will.
"I just wanna play like a few times a month and I feel like I'm getting ripped off" is actually a terrible idea. Tera is all about the end game, and it just isn't for casual players anyways, so the entire demography of the game itself has been missed.
Personally I'm glad that I can buy a subscription with gold instead of cash. Better that than just cash only. And ever since I started playing Tera I just can't feel inclined to go back to f2p models ever again. Those microtransactions drive me absolutely insane. Things that should normally be provided for everyone in-game from a game currency market is restricted to single use cash payments only. Its absurd.
^ yeah that.
I actually calculated how much money I've spent on NX since I started mabi about 3 1/2 years ago.....It kinda scared me, because it was around 1700$. Ever since then. I've refused to buy NX.
But yeah, I'd take a 15$ per month p2p sub over "HURR DURR, WAN 2 PROGRESS IN UR FAVORITE SKILL? U SHUD BUY MOAR CASH SHOP POINTS"

If the cat was a MMORPG dev outside of Asia, a P2P MMORPG with a monthly subscription is a much better business model
Better for both the customer and the devs since the customer support doesn't have to deal with a F2P community
and the players are more serious.

Good luck competing with every other subscription based mmo out there. I am sure your game will just take over WoW by a storm and people will go back to subscription based mmos instead of play something they don't have to pay... yep.

Figured, just wanted to be sure though. I haven't made my character yet. I'm thinking of either using a slayer or warrior. Warrior seems tougher and supposedly scales really well with gear, but slayer seems to have more DPS... I'll probably go with slayer, blah. Both of them are supposedly quick classes which I like, with warriors being more agile.
I'm probably just gonna pick an Elin because they're cute and have small hitboxes, and I have no idea how to minmax on this game being semi-new to it. Also, the passive that makes things not attack me for a bit looks like it could be useful in sneaking through tough spots or just whatever, especially when combined with increased speed on the ground and in the water. Probably not as good as the bigger guys, but whatever! They're adorable and maybe their hitboxes will pester lancers and archers.

the goal isn't a WoW killer or to generate massive profits.
it's a game where customers will get actual attention and be interested in staying in the game.
if you care so much about profits, then go to EA, Nexon of America, Blizzard, Activision, etc.
all scumbag companies.

What does subscription model have to do with your service quality? If you want to have good customer service then provide good customer service.

because if you can just provide good customer service, then every company in existence will be able to provide good customer service.

Then how come most airlines can't compete with westjet's service quality? Why can't the service of random motel be as good as holiday inn? The thing is providing good customer service is not easy at all, and thinking limiting your customer base will make your service better is very naive. It's not up to your customer to improve your service quality, in fact that's a ridiculous idea.
From what I can tell online customer service still have large room for improvement, but none of which depend on the customer behave like I want them to.

it's not ridiculous
there's a reason why Arenanet cut off sales for Guild Wars 2 early on so that they can adjust to the current playerbase.
a P2P MMORPG in North America is better off having to deal with a smaller playerbase, with people who are guaranteed customers.
In Asia, a F2P MMORPG is much more ideal as people commonly play in PC cafes at low rates. Selling cosmetics and optional services are the easiest and only effective way to keep a game there without pissing off the playerbase.

The reason why Arenanet cut the sale short is not because they want to control the player base, they literally ran out of server space. Control playerbase is something WoW does and look where it got them, people don't like to be controlled, as I was saying freedom or illusion of freedom will make people happy and subscription is the exact opposite of that.
