What does Lann have over Vella?

  Vella strikes to me as either a Sword Lann revamp or a super low budget character seeing how much she has in common with Sword lanns. Her attacks looks similar, she has berserker, she has slip dash, she has a gliding fury for a counter, she has mini glides, she has the same weapon, and etc.

  This just reminds me terribly of MapleStory, with the new classes that constantly overshadow the original ones by a large margin. True, it's good to have variety, but why bother with variety when it means having a superior option that makes everything else worthless?
  
  I'd delude myself into thinking this could mean a revamp for Lann, but more male characters just seems like the realistic option.

  Definitely getting that Maple Story vibe.
  
  If somebody were to ask me what Sword Lann has to differentiate from Vella my answer would be: 2 slip dashes that is inferior to Vella's single slip and Gliding fury which the developers doesn't want you to pull off that much given how low sword's crits are.

  I don't play vindi but I think new skills and skillsets shouldn't overshadow old skills but instead create new ways to play the game.

  I don't know which gear he used, but I do know it was really "up there" as well, probably approximately the same, and he was as aggressive as usual. Probably lacks some AP, so it's close.

  An emote cancels the normal shortbow shot.   Well yeah, I think they're close at best. Can't see swords being "better" by any noteworthy amount, and definitely not easier. I'm not saying swords are especially difficult with proper gear, just that Vella has an outrageous amount of options for every situation.
  
  Variety doesn't really matter to me. It is what it is, it never gets less satisfying to me and I actually like it simple, knowing I'm always doing exactly what I should.

  I like it even simpler: Final cut --> Phantom Blow for single target/Blade Fury for mobs. Pot for HP/MP. Continue for hours.

  If Vella did not have that amazing counter strike thingy skill, Lann and Vella would be pretty neck and neck. Maybe even a slight nerf to that would make the two characters equal. I mean, seeing that video where Raidhunter Vella solo'd Ingkells, it's mostly counters.

  At this level of gear, transformation isn't really a significant boost.
  
  Fairly certain Luity uses a +15. I'm fairly certain Ingkells only has somewhere in the region of 5k-7k Def. 15k-17k with a +15 and an Att set is fairly easily obtainable. With this in mind: they're about equal. Sword Lann's probably a bit ahead too. These are both terrible examples as they abuse Exquisite Damage Pots and Stims, which in turn makes the differences between characters negligable. Most solos use all these aids though.

  This is a better example. Note the reliance on LLR, the axe kick, and Cross Counter. The only other move commonly used here is the blowback, which has a situational use on Keaghen and isn't worth using on most other bosses (except to cancel bad Cross Stance usage).
  
  Also I don't get why people want to argue the whole number of viable moves and/or animation variation. But I do know I'm usually one of those who doesn't care for flashiness.

  Because options are beneficial. Kai wouldn't be nearly as good without his dodge grapple and Vella has a very quick sprint smash jump, a counter with invincibility that doesn't work on everything, and a truly invincible slip dash with a long delay at the end.

  Well, the having less DPS than Lanns does seem to be true. I notice that sword Lanns use so little stamina that they never really have to stop attacking, and just spam slipdash for every move while Vella seems to use a decent amount of stamina for her skills (which also seem to have longer invincibility frames?). Sword Lann does look somewhat less flashy, but in the end, you're spamming the same skills over and over. I can't really say for sure, but it looks like it's easier to avoid attacks as Vella than a sword Lann.
