That's a fair point.
I'll keep track of my MP pot usage on both CC+4 Firewand and Thunder while doing bandits.
And well, I just rather keep my gear safe so I prefer 98% still an option to do 95% though, indeed.
98% repairs are only possible with fomor weapons. Fomor weapons are garbage compared to their vanilla counterparts.
You should always repair your magic weapons at Berched. "The Shadow Hero" title reduces the cost of his 97% repairs by 20% which makes them 6% more costly than 95% repairs but 50% more reliable (assuming your equipment is blessed).

I always repair at berched, never knew that the shadow hero reduced the cost, thanks a lot for that.

Personally I use 93% for my wands, 98% for clothing, 95% for everything else, and that's worked fine for almost 8000 levels. My valuable items have almost never broken, basic wands yes but they're easily replaced.
The thing about wands is they have pretty much 0 investment since enchants/artisans/specials aren't needed, especially for Chaincasting. Comparing between 93% and 97%+title, statistically 93% is slightly cheaper (for CC Fire, including buying and upgrading new wands). I like the ability to pay even less in the short run for about the same total spending in the long run, repair at more towns, and not have to equip a specific title.
[S]Plus every time I visit Edern because I'm too lazy to leave Bangor he ironically fails a point, so that's another reason I don't care for max repair rates.[/S]

Don't forget the titles, I personally suggest the Master Sommelier (Wine making)
or the Wise, both do wonders with INT boost.
Even if the Master Sommelier doesn't give as much INT as the wise, it gives 5% Protection. Good for defense o.o

Go with these titles. Master of Barriers, Magic Master, or respective Elemental Master Title.
Maybe a crit title although I never cared much about crit...

I recomend thunder then ranking lightning mastery over ice spear and ice mastery. Reason for this is the bonus mana is really helpful to get your mana pool up also you can make a -20% mana usage lightning wand and still get an artisan with the chance of upto 80int which is about 4% magic damage rank 1 icespear max damage is 240 thunder is 400 . the 22% from crown ice wand still doesnt compare. Ice spear r1 with r1 ice mastery would mean roughly 25mana per charge as a human where r1 thunder with r1 lightning mastery and -20% mana usage from wand you only use 25mana also and have a much larger damage output.

I'm a mage wannabe... half warrior actually, but I wanna try this magic things..
After the debate between fire and lightning, finally I choose lightning, since I don't have to have 2 different mastery with thunder..
besides, I'm not really good at ballooning (as tiger said which fire is better at), so I prefer rafting..
Anyway, I still don't know which wand I should choose. Normal lightning (upgrade 108), or crystal lightning (upgrade 240)?
with normal lightning, I'll get more mana reduction for thunder and get a bolt knockback for 1 on 1 battle
But I can't deny that cast speed in crystal lightning is tempting.. The problem is, are 0,36s for thunder and 0,12s for bolt significant?
and what about -5% dmg reduction?
also, should I get fomor or normal weapon? (not too rich, but I can manage some repair.. as long they don't lose durability too quick... orz)
Thanks before

Just so you know, for rafting it doesn't matter if you have casting speed or not. Thunder has a gigantic range, and so long as you can kill things in 1 charge, you can raft solo easily.

If you dont want to pay that much repair on it, go Normal Lightning Wand.
If you plan to Special Upgrade it, go Normal Lightning Wand.
If you plan to get more Mana : Damage ratio, go Normal Lightning Wand.
if you plan to raft often, go Speed Cast Crystal Lightning Wand.
TL;DR: Normal > Crystal Lightning Wand unless you raft often.

I see.. thanks..
I'm using it mainly for mob control.. or against ranged enemy since I always had a hard time dealing with mages and archers..
I thought more people will recommend the crystal lightning.. glad I haven't sold my old wand~

I was just popping in to see how things in mabi are going and I saw this guide. Keep up the good work. Not everything you said in the guide is perfect but it is nice to see mages still play mabi after I left.
