I don't see any Professor Layton on anybody's lists. Then again, I only skimmed through the topic. Maybe Animal Crossing: Wild World too if you're interested in the Animal Crossing games.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (Haven't played it yet.... Should be Free Walk/Field Battles.)
Might as well skip to the newer one, Echoes of Time. FFCC series has a really great combat system, with ring locks and spell steals. The removal of Magicite makes the game more fun. Only problem is that it's pretty easy, even on Very Hard difficulty.
Outside of grid-based strategy games, it's hard to find good DS games that aren't gimmicky. Most of them get boring pretty fast.
Tactics A2 is really slow paced and repetitive as far as these kinds of games go. Might wanna try Advance Wars Dual Strike (Days of Ruin wasn't as good IMO) and Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon - they're much faster (and the hard settings are REAL challenges, especially if you go for S-Rank or no death perfect completions).

Have you tried the pink puffball that is Kirby? All the DS Kirby games are fun. Try the Final Fantasy 3 and 4 remakes. Dragon Quest IX is fun but it's all grindfest, but then again, every Dragon Quest is really a grindfest. FFCC I recommend, but Clavacs(Whatever you call the Human race of the game) are seriously OP. Castlevania is more of an Action RPG Platformer, and the series is really great, so look into that. You may have trouble with Order of Eccelesia cause Shanoa can't take damage for crap and has crappy movement speeds.

Personally, I find Selkies much better. Double jump, high crit rate, and 15 hits with bow smash is well worth the lower defense and hp compared to Clavats. Yukes are pretty broken too if you can pull off magic chains effectively. Clavats are good if you don't like going extreme offense though.
Even though I'm a big FF fan, I don't like the remakes. Partly because I already played the originals, but also because the remakes are pretty out there. FFIV looks like they had some crazy drama fanatic produced it...

Although this may sound contridictory, getting games the unorthadox method for me at least somewhat devalues and makes the gameing experience somewhat less enjoyable.

How does that even make sense? :l

I suppose it's an odd quirk.

If what he means is "Pirating makes the games less enjoyable" then it's not weird at all. Emulating is the same as stealing, and guilt from that can ruin the fun. Basic ethics.
If that doesn't make sense or apply to you, that just means you have less morality than him.
Another example is how most people go to the movie theater, pay for one movie, and watch two (or more) films. A friend of mine buys a ticket to both movies because it's technically stealing the second movie if you don't.

but stealing is the only way to combat overpricing. :/

I don't have much of a sense of guilt when it comes to prices these days :l
Doesn't mean I shoplift or anything though. Pirating and such.. eh.

Is it because you have an entire array of games to play, allowing you to switch to a new game any time you want and you'll eventually get bored of the same game and just switch to another without finishing it? That's happened to me before, but since Dragon Quest IX came out, I've been playing that non-stop. I don't know why, but it's surprisingly fun to grind in that game.

I've been playing grand theft auto a lot recently, earned like 150,000 just by playing the drug market today, but the missions are tough sometimes and frustrate me to no end with they come around.
Wheee need an easy game.
