Pokemon X and Y - Announcements and Discussion

  The game names seem to be based more off chromosomes than on X-Y Axis. The Japanese logo has what seems to be a double-helix in the logo.

  Could be a play on both though. I'm pretty excited to see what they do new in this game.

  Sure they used colors, Gems, and Metals, but certainly there's another thing they could use. Pokemon Apple or Pokemon Banana would do just fine :P Okay maybe not that sounds lamer than Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

  
  I think the names are exactly the opposite. I think they're exciting and very refreshing after 5 gens of color-based names. There are only so many colors you can use before it gets repetitive/boring. With the direction the names have taken, I think it's safe to say that they haven't run out of ideas but rather that the Pokémon team is hoping to push the game into a new direction that'll really please the players.
  
  All that aside, all of the starters look BEAUTIFUL. The two legendaries look great as well! The graphics are to die for and omFg a blonde female protag?!?!?!?! can I just cease to exist until Oct.

With hundreds of pokemon added and with the climbing expectations of better graphics, I wonder how long it'll take to animate and draw hundreds upon hundreds of different pokemon (not to mention everything else in the game..).

  Staff, resources, and technology is only growing right now with Pokemon's success. I doubt they have any problems.

It reminds me of when people started making games 3D just because 3D was the latest thing, like 15 years ago or whatever, and the result looked like crap. At least with the DS games, they retained the oldschool tileset charm while spicing it up a bit with some 3D, but this...

  Those X and Y logos are also quite unappealing. Then again, the designers are aiming this stuff at little kids, who admittedly are the target market, so perhaps I'm just too old for this. lol
  
  The starters themselves look okay, I suppose. They don't come close to the original 3, however.
