ok so after thinknig about for a long time, I had decided that today I would learn all the stuff about drawing basic body sckeletons, joins and flesh and all that stuff. This way I would be able to draw bodies without reference.
I was so naive a few hours ago... I have no idea how you guys do it but I feel like I've hit the border of my capacities.. There is no way I can draw that way...*sigh* Atleast I could draw something nice with all this gloomness and despair that is overflowing me right now..

The human body has a lot of things to take in. I think it took me a year of looking at bodies or photography to generally sketch with the basic idea of where everything is and how things should look. But in the end, it'll refine the way your bodies look. iirc, Cirno on Mabination was a realism artist before he switched to his current style today.

hmm... I'm starting to think that Despair is a very powerful fuel for art..
Drew something else while despairing about my lack of understanding in basic. *sigh*

Technically most of the design is based on a character my favorite artist drew once in the past. His desing of a lone demon girl was so perfect, I honestly couldn't come up with a better design. Of course to avoid being a pure copy pasta of her character, I changed a few details. A lone demon girl still must have a simple torn white dress and messy long hair.

I like how your artwork looks so far. It is much better than mine is.
Don't despair about not being able to draw from imagination yet, just do what I did and get your [S]slaves[/S] siblings to pose for you while you draw or take pictures to draw from. That way you can get any pose you want, with 100% certainty that it is physically possible!(if you try for one that is not possible they complain...)

problem is.. no siblings.
Also I can't fully use human for model. I usually draw 6-5 Head tall characters. Humans are usually 7 head tall. Not exactly the best reference. Atleast I know my own body fails as a reference.

Why does your body fail as a reference?

Too much neutral. it's too much inbetwen the two borders to be used as a correct reference for either gender.

Well got out of my small art depression.
Now for something colorful

Another OC from my story. This character appear in Volume 2. A few details about her is that she's a maid(obvious enough) and her race is Tetora(cat like attributes). I tried to give her hair a "fur"-like pathern. Based her on a bengal cat.
When doing such digital art, I kept being made aware how immature I am as an artist. Been told to use "gut feeling" to find how to shade. Where does one buy Gut feeling? anyone knows?

'Gut feeling' - annoying as it is, it translates simply to 'see more, learn more'. To some degree, everyone learns through osmosis, we observe people we admire, how they work and do stuff, and eventually we pick up techniques from them.
That said, you can still use yourself as reference for drawing, especially for shading. Unless the lighting in your environment or your drawing, there are some areas that are nearly always shadowed- under the chin, the nose, under the eyes (careful though, don't make the eyebags too big haha) and eyebrows, etc. I don't see any problems in your work when it comes to shadows though, it looks pretty good!

yea, like you said I mostly learned by looking at my favorite artist art. If I can get closer to her style I would be happy.
Shading is trully an hard part.
on a side note, I drew up a new doodle yesterday but due to it's pecular elements, I'm refraining from posting it here.
In return here is a link to my deviant art for those interested.
