I enjoyed shining soul 2 for the game boy advanced.
Is there something similar for ds?

Radiant Historia is an RPG I absolutely adore. Not sure how similiar it is compared to shining souls though, I never played that.

I'm not exactly sure if it's 100% similar but you could try Soma Bringer. It has an english fan translation.

You realize that you have to replay the other routes to gain powers, etc etc generally in order to progress on both sides, right?
I assume you didn't disarm the bombs or such.
In cases like that, I sometimes check guides if I still can't manage after a day or two. The game is definitely worth finishing though, even exploring all alternative endings is pretty fun.
It's probably my most favourite RPG on DS.

D: but guides kinda ruin the fun of the game.

Checking guides? What's the point? How boring.
And Radiant Historia is good, yes. And it's not that hard, you just have to pay attention.
Also, nothing like SS2, but the best RPG on the DS by far is Etrian Odyssey 2. And Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is also really darn good.

Hear this man, he has good taste.
Try the DQ games if you haven't, they're great fun and the Rune Factory series is a great time killer.

Dengeki Gakuen Rpg - Cross of Venus
Not Translated but the game play itself is entertaining and well I don't know what else too say about it, I only really beat it cause I wanted too play as Misaka Mikoto.

Yeah, that was 5. Depends on what you liked about 5, if it was the story, there really isn't nothing like it in the rest of the series. 8 comes close because it's also a plot driven DQ, this series is mostly ADVENTURE. I'd say play the rest of the Zenithian trilogy (IV and VI). IX is amazing but falls short in story and character interaction, still give it a chance when you feel like it.

I liked there being three generations of storyline.
1. when you're a kid
2. when you're an adult
3. when you play as your kids
I also talked to my party members for all parts of the game. Like even after talking to one random npc, I would talk to all 3 of my party members.
So you could say I liked the storyline?
