Just checked my email this morning and saw this in my inbox. Got an instantly uber excited. I MUST go to gamestop this weekend with my DS. MUST! I'll bring all 4 cartridges so I can get 4 of these things just cause. While I'm there I'll pick up Fire Emblem that I've been meaning to get.

No, 1 3DS is all I'm keeping. I'm not buying a special edition one. I will buy both Pokemon X and Pokemon Y though. A DS Lite and 3DS is all ready overkill.

I'm terrible with the metagame stuff though. I'd look like a total noob, I'll save myself the embarrassment. I play the games more from a story/collector vantage point and don't invest into too much time after I run through the story and do the after elite four activities.
