my mule is rank a now. i really dont think it'll be a good idea to pour more of my ap's into this skill; all i have is an herb pig, and i pick everything fine. i only pick herbs to make 100 pots for myself or to sell. should i stop ranking it now? also, at what rank does potmaking become efficient enough to profit alright from, like not so many herbs go to waste?? my prod mast is 9 on my main, so what percent is good enough? i only need potmaking to make 100 pots. im rank d atm. suggestions?

There's Spike enchant which is Herbalism 9 and Potionmaking A requirements, if you are looking for something worthwhile from this skill on the main.
I think the herbalism rank of mule is ok. More is better (for picking speed) but not really necessary since you do most of the picking from herb pets anyway.
You might just want to aim for 95% or more success rates when making the 100 potions on Mondays, bearing in mind of use of 8 people production parties and also rainy weather. 99% will always be the best you can get. With that, production mastery and potion making ranks will matter. I think that might be a rank C or so with your current production mastery level.

Be sure to get the mule to r1 production mastery asap. You don't want to waste any more herbs than you really need to.
Since it takes only 29 AP or something to go to r1, why don't you do the skill in your main character?
Chances are that your main character will have transform. You can later transform to get free mana in Rabbie Arena to use to make HP/Stamina/Mana 100 Pots to sell. I believe that r9 and r1 production mastery is enough to get to 99% on a non-Monday. Maybe it was a few ranks later?

hmm... is it strongly recommended to rank up prod mast to 1? i only ranked it to help a little with refine and to get some extra stam. right now im content with my stam, so i was gonna stop upping it. bad??

Production Mastery to 1 would be free success % for your potion making. Unless you plan on someday turning your mule into a legit char and getting RAnk 1 Refine on it, I don't see why you wouldn't want to get Mastery up to 1. It'll increase your success rate, thereby letting you waste less herbs on fails AND its waaaayy easier to rank than Potion Making itself.

Cant you just stand infront of a manatunnel and get free mana that way? Thats what my cusin uses for making mp pots for himself.

I wouldn't recommend leveling a mule for lifeskills at all. I know its about ap but I prefer to have the stat bonuses for all my hard work show up on my main char.

well... i just got a metallurgy mule / herblism mule / frag mule. those aren't that great of stat boosters i dont think? o3o they're just to help my main train refine / make potions faster. if i need to learn them later on my main, then i'll do it again.

These ARE good stat boosters; and it's a hassle to train it again, IMO.
As for your original question, Spike is really the only reason you should rank these skills because the other "incentives" like stats or higher grade potions/herbs is not really worth your massive efforts and resources

Meh i gave up on pot making im at i believe D or C the one where u start needing gold herbs. I need to get a new clover pig seeing as i didn't train mine right. All i do with my herbs are sell it to the high-priced buyers in ruairi. Though, I've seen really cheap herbs in dunby ch1
