It's not so much as lack of sympathy for these victims.
When we hear about explosions injuring and killing civilians during a normal day in some far off country, we don't think much about it, nor give it as much exposure as this. The point is not about having a lack of sympathy and concern, but instead show the same amount of sympathy and concern (as displayed here) to these other events that didn't have as much before.
You shouldn't abstain from giving sympathy to these events just because the media/parts of society don't, though. That's what I meant. I'm always disgusted by whatever events I hear about, whether they're here or in some far-off country, so naturally I get pissed off when the USA acts like they're the only ones who matter. It's not even an issue of them putting an emphasis on local issues; they literally do not give two shits about other countries, sans for the occasional event, or those which involve the USA in some way.
Another reason I'm probably going to be irritated about these bombings pretty soon is all the racism that tends to come with it when ignorant Americans automatically assume it's external terrorism (even though I'm pretty sure this is internal terrorism, but who knows, I could be wrong) and therefore harass non-(white) Americans because of it.
So all in all, I'm a-okay with being pissed at the media and society, but if somebody uses the media's lack of coverage of events in other countries to justify having no sympathy for the
victims here, then there's seriously something wrong with them.
