Ok, where to start....
My laptop's screen will not turn on. I don't know how this happened in the first place, but it't really bugging me now. I was drawing with my tablet in Sai, listening to the Homestuck radio on Mixlr, I had tumblr open, Nation as well, AND the Mixlr IRC, when all of a sudden the screen just turned this weird pinkish color for a second and then it just blanked out. At first I thought maybe my computer had overheated, because that CAN happen sometimes, so I left it off for about 15-20 minutes while playing games on my phone and tried turning it back on again. The screen still isn't working, but I know my laptop is on because I can hear the fans running. It's also on a charger. Now, it can't be a virus because the last thing I downloaded before the incident was a couple of Osu! beatmaps, and those possibly couldn't contain any viruses.
I don't know what's wrong this time. I have an Acer Aspire that's about 3 years old with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it. I really don't think system spe CDs really have anything to do with this issue.
If anyone could offer help, that would be MUCH appreciated. I thought I could turn to Nation because there are a lot of people here who now how to fix computer-related issues, and I alone can't do zip.
Thanks!

This sounds like a hardware issue. Your fan running isn't exactly the best diagnosis of whether the computer itself is running properly or not, but I believe your screen is either broken or your connection between the gpu and screen has a problem. Alternatively, you could have a broken gpu as well. It sounds possible that you overworked it while drawing on SAI.
Hardware malfunction in laptops are, practically speaking, not worth fixing. I could test for each individual parts on a desktop, but I can't even imagine how I would try it on a laptop. 3 years is more or less the reasonable life expectancy behind laptops, so don't be too sad if you can't fix it.
And by the way, I can't stop staring at your signature.

Alright, so maybe it's best to invest in a new one? That will take a ton of time, but seeing there's nothing I can do about it.
Wait, would it be possible to have it looked at by someone, like even though it shit the bed, is there a small possibility it isn't completely broken?
(What, is it be because of Droog's legs sliding sexily across the floor?)

Take it to a local repair shop.
I don't mean over by geeksquad, because they'll charge you enough to buy a new laptop instead.

I would say it's a hardware issue as well. I remember when my screen went black on my old laptop and I could only get it to work by wiggling the screen enough for it to actually work until it finally stopped working.
Luckily my laptop was still under warranty when that happened so Dell replaced the motherboard and screen, and a few of the broken keys all for free :D
But ya, I would look into investing into a new laptop as the amount of time and money you're going to spend fixing it may not be worth it when you get get a very decent laptop for $300 or less these days.

If you have a monitor laying around somewhere plug it into the laptop (if the laptop has ports for a monitor).
You can also do a network scan (or if you know the IP of the laptop) and try to ping it or even remote desktop onto it.
Just to know if it's really just a screen issue or if the whole system died.

Oh ya, forgot about the monitor solution. Most, if not all laptops should have a VGA input somewhere that you could plug your desktop monitor into to check on it.
Only issue is that for some laptops it won't recognize it. I know with my laptop where the screen went bad I had to figure out the key combinations to press to get it to recognize the external monitor (after logging in) and most of the time I was guessing and hoping I got it right.

I think I'm just going to go with what Runes said. If I can't find a place that will look at it for a reasonable price, I'll start saving for one. My price range is around $300-$400 because with the way I'm being paid now, it may take me a little over a year. I'm thinking of buying this one if I can afford it:

I'm just not sure whether it's good for gaming or not. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to know of there are any other decent and affordable laptops. Thanks anyways guys, you're amazing help.

have you at least tried Osay's monitor suggestion to make sure it's working for sure?

Don't you need a cable for that? I'm not sure if I have one, and if I need one I can see how much one is and buy it when I can.

You have a desktop don't ya, where are you posting this from? Cable would be a VGA cable. I was under the assumption that you had a desktop computer with a monitor on it. I apologize if this was the wrong assumption.

I'm actually posting this from my iPhone as we speak. I do have a desktop with a monitor that my parents have had for roughly...6 years. Would that work? It's not a bulky one, it's one of those HP flatscreens. I'll try it.

If the end looks like this:

you should be fine.

I found it. I plugged it into the port, and unfortunately it only worked for about a minute before the screen went pink with the lines and blacked out. My dad is taking a look at it, but I don't think anything will be accomplished.

if it did it on both then you likely have a graphic card problem.
What I would test next is if I could remote desktop into it to at least determine if the laptop is still alive. Then it might have a small hope of being repaired.
Otherwise Just get the hard drive out to secure your data and get a new one.
