I see a laptop that has 4gb of DDr3 ram but a gtx670 3gb with optimus GPU. The memory is a little low but does that matter in a gaming laptop? Like say for example like bf3 on high or skyrim.

depends how fast it overheats and forces shutdown

It doesn't matter all too much, 4GB is around the minimum. Loading speeds may be faster with more ram, but not fps.

The RAM is fine and in most cases can be upgraded fairly easily, so do some research on that and if you like the rest of the laptop go for it and upgrade in the future (or right away)

No not at all. Alienware is a very cost effective gaming laptop that can run any game at max settings.

Umm... no not really. You'll get a much better deal off of MSI, Sager, or Cyberpower gaming laptops. I'd say check out
www.xoticpc.com and compare before you want to spout it. Oh, and yes Alienware is now owned by dell and their quality went down the hole after that happened compared to what they used to be like.

Lol. But yeah upgrading the ram for 4 gigs dosent seem that bad. I really wanted 8 gigs minimum so upgrading wouldnt be to costly either. Would I have to put ddr3 ram in as well or could it be ddr5?
-

DDR5 doesn't exist yet unless you're referring to graphics optimized GDDR5. And as has been said, just buy a separate 8GB kit and install it yourself, it takes like 5 minutes to swap DIMMs.

Can you do crossfire/SLI with xotic laptops and do they have interchangeable GPUs?

The Xoticpc brand laptops do not have crossfire/SLI, but they do offer brands that can do crossfire/SLI (SAGER, Alienware). The reason why is because the FORCE brand is just like an MSI laptop without the MSI drivers/bloatware. I don't know about the interchangeable GPUs.
