It's fine im not peeved that they want to add there own MML library that is not my beef lol, its the users and there self entitled attitudes.
Edit - And before someone comes running through here saying "LIKE IT COSTS THAT MUCH BANDWIDTH. " It does when you don't use crappy midi generated previews and instead actual mabinogi sounds for the previews, which in turn instead of a 30KB midi sound file, its a 4mb to 10mb mp3 file, which we then host on our content delivery network for quicker preview serving to users.
1 10mb song preview file, 300 users in 1 day view and load the preview - 3000mb used. But, lets not forget we have 1,000 other songs available as well and most people view a average of 5 MML's at the very least per visit. Oh look here im now blowing through terabytes of bandwidth and network speed to serve high quality content to .. guest lurkers who dont contribute thanks guys!
Don't bash me before you understand the reasoning.

Keep in mind, you ARE on nation, so people will defend nation like the army.
That's part of the reason for the negative reaction.
However turning nation into the "do all" site is going to potentially create some future problems.
Because people WILL flip shit if the site is down for unknown reasons like the wiki was.
People can assure me it will never happen. But you do not know for sure.
I will donate to Nation cause I've been here for awhile and quite like it here. So yes I will contribute money to a site I already frequently visit and know/love.

Not bashing, and i understand the reasoning, hence why i
supported you.
Which is why i have no intention on ever hosting something on my dime.

No amount of donations will save a site if the owner ever goes MIA, which was my end point.
I do not mind donating. But it adds up in the end.

I would if I wasn't lazy and it didn't cost more than $50 a month.
Also don't get me wrong I don't hate what you are doing. I'm just really pissed at your attitude about this whole thing. If you hadn't called us "whiny" or been less aggressive when we thought it was down, I wouldn't be so negative about you and your site.

Pretty sure Aubog was saying that in reply to me.. not to you.

I'm just saying in general. Once again, attitudes and perception. Cause your perception of us is so negative, I'm just returning in due kind.

Kinda wish i became an accountant.
I find all the number crunching shockingly fun.

Well, following that logic... Is logical, however i usually just try to remain neutral or positive more or less to "offset" the negativity.

Fun fact, I wanted to become an accountant when I was in 10th grade until I got caught bypassing the school blocking to play Runescape. Then I devoted all my energy and time into programming which is why I'm now a web developer instead of an accountant.
I really should get the motivation to work on my website >.> I mean I am teaching myself how to use angular-js so may as well start playing around with my new programming toy.

How did you in the same sentence manage to sound mature about the situation then instantly try to instigate and continue the argument lol. My view is only negative of certain people in this community, not nation as a whole. And ive already explained my reasoning, and the behind the scenes "numbers" on why its so frustrating to let lurkers view content.
I will however say and agree i could have been less aggressive and gotten the point across.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. I get it, I just didn't like how you tried to get the message across which just set off an argument switch in me.
I may not contribute a lot but that's cause I'm not very musically inclined nor good with artwork. Best I can provide is programming (laziness gets in the way) and testing when things come out on the KR server.
Actually I should contribute my slight edit to the Twilight Princess Hyrule Field theme that was Rank impossible that I managed to get down to r1.
How do you search for songs in this interface anyways :/ (nevermind figured it out)

I'm looking forward to having a database here.
I don't have anything against MML websites but I don't like registering just for songs. I do like playing but I'm not into it enough to want to register. lol.

Thats such a weird and backwards ass attitude, but again we will leave it because we already discussed it in the previous posts. Also if you read, the site is available for guest viewing now for all the lurkers (leechers).

You're acting as if you're doing us a huge favour. You complained about there being whiners here, but you're the only one I've seen have the kiddie attitude around. Way to respect your viewer base. Just sayin'.

I never mentioned a specific website.
I have run into more than one instance where I was required to log in (so, sign up) to view songs.
Whatever your opinion is, your attitude puts people off from it.
That being said, I would appreciate it if
everyone was careful about the way they addressed one another.

So wait, people here were complaining that mabimml was made user only.
So the solution is to make a user only mml database on nation?
Please tell me that's me misunderstanding.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, nation can be more of a backup or mirror in case MabiMML has downtimes and such. It seems like a lot of time and effort spent on something that wont be maintained very well. From what I see with the life skill section here, only one or two people help out when someone requests a song. Even asking for information on the new instruments and voices for 3ml went unnoticed for the Diva contest posted weeks ago. (Though it's understandable since the new MSXSpirit.dls file is over 300MB...)
From what I see, MabiMML is a specialized site that has a steady amount of mml contributions and members who are musically inclined and knowledgeable about the mml language. It's kind of like how mabidata has been the go to place for new info on foreign servers. Maybe a co-op with the people at MabiMML would be beneficial?
Just a suggestion... :gloom2:
