Repuation is ill advised.
If you propose rep, i propose total level on mabi.
Meaning i want neither being a determining factor.
then someone can just lie and we'd all have grandmaster titles

Actual proof. Not hard.
Rep based is stupid.
Or you know, actually choose what you are.
Like i am a grandmaster merchant, i will rage up a storm if i cant have that if this comes to the forums.

I agree with this. I'd rather it be based on either post count or actual proof that you have the grandmaster than it being another representation of the rep bar. We already have that.
Most people worked to get the Grandmaster titles in game. Having it based off whoever is the most liked/repped by the community almost seems like a slap to the face for other members who did the work for it.

Hmm, sorry to go off topic, but maybe we can have two version of post counters? One for only Bean Rua, while the another one is for everything else?
^All of this.

99.98% sure you can't show 2 different post counts, nor can you set a post count for just one forum while keeping a separate one for all the others
re: rep bitching - sure, rep can be a bullshit indicator, but 11 bars is 1500 rep. clearly, the people who have attained that are relatively worthwhile members of the community and while not getting a lot of rep sucks, most people here have a healthy amount. there really is no other way to measure it besides post count, in which the same group of people with high rep would be higher ranked.
doing it by total levels is a retarded idea

Rep applies to the whole forum, skewed, no logical connection to talent levels
Total level applies to mabi, Talents apply to mabi, a logical connection.
I have always wanted something on the forums that showed you how well you strived in game to reward those that worked incredibly hard ingame.
Be it a "veteran" sub group or something.
But i digress, wishful thinking, obviously biased coming from me

I don't want to bring up the whole "most people here don't play Mabi anymore" argument because I don't necessarily believe in it, but if it was based off of mabi achievements this place would just end up being a Nexon Forums-esque elitist circlejerk
my favorite part of this forum is that "pros" and "noobs" can actually coexist without hating each other (usually). we also can't forget about folks like me who've [S]made a thousand characters that are mediocre compared to one good one[/S] been around for a looooong time and are decently knowledgeable, but don't have the total levels/gold/skills to back it up
so basically we're both biased

How about using new icons instead of talent icons?

Well, it also helps "inform" the newcomers to mabi and these forums towards any questions towards people with particular talents.
Personally i think there should be a rollover tab of "talent" levels like mabi does that one can mouse over. But, it's whatever, nothing rep based please.
Took me so long to get 1k rep, 3 years, by the looks of it, it seems it will take another year.

If this means the mabi info icons get turned into talent icons of your choice, I'm all for it. Not sure what you mean otherwise.
As for the proof...I'd say don't bother actually verifying, if people want to they can either put the screenshot proof somewhere in their sig/profile or such, or simply get asked ingame.
I'd like to have my Grandmaster Archer icon, and if people don't believe me I have that, then too bad. And if people feel the dire need to lie about them..well, too bad for them, it doesn't concern me. The current mabi info icons are not being verified either.

I actually meant completely new icons, they might not even be official Mabi icons, or player-made.

Ah. I had interpreted that as in replace the old mabi icon with the talent pictures instead of giving extra talent icons like the new UI does unless disabled somehow.
I'm not sure how practical utterly new pictures are seeing as they'd have to be related somehow and fit.

I actually disagreed with your post. There's some people that have over 3k+ posts and is here since the first month since Forums started and didn't get much reputation, but they actually contributed a lot to the forums so they're still a worthwhile members.
It really pisses me off when some people think some members, even including the newer ones who had less than 500 posts, but still get 4+ rep. bars, is considered more of a "worthwhile" member than some people who posted a lot, and is here for a long time.
Also, it doesn't help that people usually only rep. the other people for doing lulzy/trolling stuffs in the post, while people that actually does something helpful/had someone agreed to the posg, barely get repped.
So no. The icons or any type of contents we get in Mabination should NEVER be relatedbased to/off reps.

Now look, I don't like it when people with like no posts have a shitton of rep, but reputation isn't given just for useful and helpful answers.
Maybe rep for trolling is bad, but is rep for posting something funny really that awful? Let's take a moment and define what reputation really is:
a : overall quality or character as seen or judged by people in general
b : recognition by other people of some characteristic or ability
c : a place in public esteem or regard : good name
People give reputation because they like someone, or something they've done. We the community are not just fact-machines meant to soullessly answer questions that newer players might have. You have to be vibrant, have a personality, be a little funny once in a while. People who go out of their comfort zones and take risks are the ones that become popular and noticed. People who are noticed have a large reputation.
This is how society works.
Sure, i've gotten a bunch of rep for "trolling" someone, but most of it has been from the things I've said that are a.) correct b.) helpful, or c.) amusing. Reputation is the sum of someone's parts, and actually having a personality is a part of that.
So yeah, it sucks to be you with 3.5k posts and 3 rep bars, but you have to be a visible member of the community, and that occasionally means whoring up Bean Rua, posting memes, answering questions and being zingy with your posts. That's interesting, and that's how the world is, because Nation isn't a cute little fairyland of rainbows and unicorns.
And if you're not interesting, then nobody cares.
Stop crying because you're not interesting or likeable enough.

A quarter of my rep. 250 points is from my puns in one month, now are you telling me that i was not helpful in responding to questions and stuff.
I flung puns to relieve IRL stress, no one gave a damn about me for 3 years until i started throwing puns like it was going out of style.
This is cruel and unusual punishment and i demand that am i rewarded with my awesome talents.
/shot.
Just saying rep is more handed out with witty humor than actual good advice.
Perspective, i go to settings, the last rep it shows is from the shockwave thread, before that rep, the dead bottom was last year juneish
