This kid showed something that most don't even posses anymore and he gets punished for it.
How depressingly normal of a school to do.
I hope this kid sees all the support he's getting from the people reading about his brave act and doesn't let this whole thing stop him from being such a heroic young man.

what in the actual fuck
even though i wish he did get an adult, since he could have very well ended up in bleeding to death in a pool of his own blood what he did was very heroic and he shouldn't have been punished for it

I can see why the school gave him a lecture.
If it went the other way and he got hurt while trying to do the right thing and his mother filed a lawsuit against the school then the school would've been in big trouble, as well as the kid who pulled the knife out.

If the kid knew what he was doing, then its an heroic act. If he did not know what he was doing and the risk of getting hurt was high, that was foolishness

I like this kid. I feel people today are too docile, we need more people like him. He's the kind of guy I'd buy beer for, what a trooper.

I have to agree. I think he understood that he could have been harmed. But he put that aside to help someone else in need. I find this very heroic. If he would have left to go find an adult who knows what would have happened. He might not even be able to find an adult. So my hat is off to this kid.

Does anyone else think he could just have screamed to the top of his lungs... with such a large scream you expect people, and mostly adults to gather quickly. the sream itself will also distabilize the guy with a knife who's gonna be like "dam he's attacking too much attention"

Screaming could've provoked the kid with a knife to take action even quicker though. Instead of freezing up he might've just stabbed the kid in front of him and then gone after the screamer.
I've seen kids at my old high school and even middle school get fucked up pretty badly by other students while waiting for teachers to gather, and even when the teachers showed up they couldn't do anything until the security guards showed up. :T
Even though the kid broke protocol, his actions were probably what stopped that other kid from being sliced or stabbed.

This is actually part of what I think is wrong with society today, people look to others for solution to their problems, like government. This kid took charge and solved the problem himself, maybe there is a better way, but the fact that he did it by himself just shows what a baller he is. He didn't look to others to hand a solution to him, and that's commendable in my book.

Yeah what if the kid with the knife in that moment instead of being like whoa this kid is attracting attention stabbed the other kid and ran? I mean he knew what he was getting into, so I don't think he would just be like okay I guess I got to bail.

It's a tough call. One one hand, this kid is a hero and saved the victim from a fatal situation, and a teacher might not have been prepared to handle the situation. On the other hand, the school is most likely punishing the student to discourage other students from doing this in the future, since the would-be rescuer might be injured or killed, and it's generally easier to kill a middle-schooler than it is to kill an adult. I wouldn't want to be the person making the decision for this one.

Yeah, being simple minded about this isn't good. :P
Both sides here are right in their own ways--it just so happens that they clash in this case, which is unfortunate.

an adult would have known how to handle the situation more than a fucking 13 year old
what he did was brave, but very foolish, he could have been the one stabbed and if he was
what would his mother say then? "i'm proud of my son" or "blah blah the school is so irresponsible i'll sue blah blah"
