In no particular order, number 1 doesn't mean it's better. You should read my assessment of each and if you like the aspect of the mmo then good for you.
1. Dragon Nest: Like Vindi, only hardly any grind, you can make to top level in 1-2 week if you play 2-3h a day. The combat I feel is better than Vindi, especially acrobat, and kali. The visual style take some getting use to.
2. Starwars the old republic: I know what people are going to say, and I agree, the f2p model is crap, but you can still experience the plot no problem and that's where this game shines. If you like good story telling in your MMO, this game has them in spades. And each class offer different plots, it's fun if you don't mind the grind and crappy skill bar.
3. Warframe: This game's production value is freaking high. You go around as a cyberninja fighting dungeons. You CAN stealth in this game, but it's pretty hard, even if you have a stealth range weapon because once alerted enemies don't seem to drop their guard again and will actively look for you no matter if you stay hidden after trigger someone's alarm. What I don't like about this game is its crafting system, you need blueprints which will drop randomly or you can buy those, THEN you need to gather materials to make the things on the blueprint, and most of the stuffs are not available in early stages, so you are basically stuck with crappy weapons and whatnot unless you are willing to pay. If you enjoy group dungeon first/third person shooting/melee action, then you can give it a try, personally not that interested in it.
4. Mech Warrior Online: You get to pilot a mech and design it, like the old mech warrior game, you can pick a mech model and fit them with shits trying to maximize whatever you see fit, I know people fitting mech with like 20 LRMs, and it gets crazy fun once you get into the game. It's a solid game if you want to give it a try.
5. Team Fortress 2: It's team fortress 2, I think there is no need for commentary, if you haven't tried it... try it.
6. Neverwinter MMO: Unlike most people here, I don't really like this game, the reason being its questing feels like WoW, some people you don't know order you around like you are on their payroll, and you killing shit for stuff you really don't give a damn about. I mean seriously, if Lord Everamber doesn't wear the crown of neverwinter, he's probably not the real heir, so what if those people take the crown? If they can wear it, it will prove that guy is the true lord, if not, he dies. Why the hell am I running around trying to recover the damn thing? The combat is ok, not nearly as good as vindi/tera/dragonnest though.
7. PSO2: 1 character per account, deleting char cost money, make another one cost money and that's 1 per account, not server. I wasn't able to enjoy it much mainly because the language patch doesn't cover most of the dialog... sigh. Anyway, the combat seems interesting, if you can get pass the japanese and live with the character you create... good for you.
8. Tera: It's decent, the combat is pretty good, gets a bit grindy after a while, quest is also the random people asking you to do stuff kind. No NPC stands out for me, they are very forgettable.

Oh yeah, I have it, it feels very much like diablo 2 with major graphic update. It's definitely worth trying, also because of the lack of currency, no need to worry about gold farmers. The skill tree is very unique, it's hard to navigate but it's also very interesting, you can build your ranger for melee or tank for your mage. Truly innovating.

Hey TLC, have you tried the story patch for PSO2? It's translated pretty much every single cutscene dialogue in the game from the prologue to chapter 10.

Honestly PSO2 gets even more grindy as you go.
1. Most people have moved onto endgame content, this means there's a significant lack of people playing at the mid levels of 40 to 50, making it hard to effectively get EXP.
2. EXP penalty is still awful, you can enter endgame content starting at Lv. 45, but you're heavily penalized (see 80 EXP on enemies that should be giving over 500) on just about everything until the low 50s. This is as you're given an EXP penalty on everything more than 5 levels higher than you (or such) with increasing severity. Endgame content has enemies at Lv. 56 to 60.
3. The EXP curve is still awful. It takes about 1.5m total EXP to reach Lv. 40. 4.5m EXP more for Lv. 50. And then about 13m EXP on top of that for Lv. 60 (19m total). And you have to do it twice since the game requires you to have both a main class and a subclass leveled in order to effectively cap the power you get from level ups. So you essentially need 38m EXP to cap. As an example, it took me just under a month of play in order to take a class from 50 to 60.
4. Even after you level cap, the only thing left to do is grind for more rares, grind for more money, grind and hope the RNG stops being absolute garbage.
Essentially if you stopped playing Vindi since of the grind, I think it's pretty likely that you'll stop PSO2 due to the grind.
The only way to really tell though is to pick up the game and play it a bit. Given one of the best parts about F2P games is that there's very little actual cost in order to try it out.
As for other suggestions, sadly I have none for the moment.

Wasn't PSO1 just about grind as well?
I guess when you're a kid you don't think about the complexities of games and just enjoy them.

That's not true at all. One of my friends is mass farming it right now and has been since it went into OB. It's my understanding that they trade currency items such as Exalteds, Mirrors of Kalandra, etc as well as equipment occasionally.
The game itself is incredible though and I love it. Just keep in mind it's the "indie competitor" version of Diablo 3 and won't be quite as fluid or polished as a result. I find it more fun though.

That sounds like Diablo 2 all over again. I like. I just hope that runes are not a major currency.

It's basically Diablo 2, but different. I think the setup they have is better than D2.
Runes are not a major currency (because they don't exist). Currency items are all useful and you'd be screwing yourself over to not use them on your items from time to time. Most of them modify item properties/rarity, but a few do other things like reset a stat point for example or make a skill gem more powerful.

So they farm items that's use for trade and sell them for real money?

Yes. Why wouldn't they? You can use them to upgrade your items or trade them for better items. It's the exact same thing they (meaning goldfarmers in general) did in Diablo 2 because gold was basically useless there.
As long as there's a way to trade, there's a way to goldfarm.

I didn't actually stop Vindi because of the grind. I just used to play Vindi with 3 friends IRL, but my brother played Karak, and he just progressed back to LoL. My other friend did, and the last friend moved back to his home country. Me, being the last one remaining, was bored by myself and therefore quit. It wasn't the grinding that was a pain. It was finding reliable friends who actually wanted to keep on going with the game. I was maxed level on Vindi (I think) for quite some time, and I had enough AP, but my friends just qq'd as it was a waste of time (sounds like a hypocrite now that my brother has rejoined it).

I don't know about pso1 but psu was very easy to level.. barely touched questing.

Well if it's lack of friends, just make sure you have some going into PSO2. Not saying it'll be hard, but there is a much smaller playerbase with which you'll actually be able to communicate with.
As for comparisons to PSO1, from what my teammates have told me - the big issue with PSO2 is you can't hunt for a specific item. With how everything is set up, most drops you want require either.
1. Emergency Quests (namely Dark Falz), which are random and only happen for half a hour. You only get one Dark Falz kill as well every time it pops up. There have been whole weeks without a single Dark Falz, and sometimes there are 2 or 3 a day.
2. Advanced Quests. The issue with these is that they require a payment of capsules to enter. Not going to explain the specifics, but you're forced into a rotation for quite a while until you build up a significant storage of capsules (my ~50 or so multiplied into 700). But in the end that means you'll really only be able to spend 1/3 of the time in an area with the item you want to farm. And god forbid if you want two things from areas which require the same capsules to enter.
3. Premium in order to obtain 10* purchase passes which require trading in of other 10*s. In other words you have to pay real money and farm a ton of in game money. Higher end rares easily take 40m+, which is over a month's worth of grinding sans drops.
So if you want to set goals itemwise, it's going to be problematic for you. Granted I'm just here being annoyed at the RNG so take everything I say with a grain of salt.
