Okay I'm a bit annoyed/upset about this.
Apparently people aren't taking the spoiler tag seriously these days and as a result it's losing it's purpose. So much so that apparently I have to include a warning about what the spoiler tag is about before hand!
A spoiler tag should be self-explanatory. I shouldn't have to explain why the spoiler tag is there and that it might contain potential spoilers.
Maybe we should have another tag dedicated to "jokes" or "large images" or maybe if people are going to put jokes or large images they should have to explain themselves and not me for putting spoilers in, well, a spoiler tag.
/end rant

But why are people complaining about SPOILER tags?!
The name is self explanatory.

That I don't get.

@kingofrunes
I think many of us would appreciate if you would notify us that your spoiler tag contains actual plot spoilers rather than large images or joke punchlines for example. Those of us who want to avoid plot spoilers yet haven't seen a spoiler tag used for it's actual purpose in a while were caught off guard (me.) oTL
But apparently this person thought I should have explained what was in a spoiler tag simply because people have been goofing off with it.

I think it's because Spoiler tags are being misused way too often.

Which is my main beef atm. It's making the people who actually use the spoiler tags properly get yelled at cause people won't take them seriously.

Spoiler tags hide content, if someone opens it it's at their own risk, be it spoilers or horrible blinding images one can't unsee.
Not going to make different kinds of spoiler tags for different kinds of content...

That's their problem, as far as I'm concerned.

Fair enough.

Just say plot spoilers or large image.

Yeah, but like King said, you should expect spoilers on a spoiler tag.
Another choice would be to make the spoiler tag take an argument, something like:

derps

And whatever is entered there would appear to the right side of Spoiler:
s
I've seen this implemented on other forums and it's very, very useful. Definitely supporting this if at all possible and it doesn't take too much of Osay's time.
That should solve the issue then, if people still complain about seeing a spoiler in a spoiler tag after that they can kindly walk off a bridge or other tall structure.

Osay, your change broke [ SPOILER ] variations. :(
Seeing a lot of broken signatures now that is breaking rules when they normally wouldn't.

Osayidan wrote on 2013-07-02 14:34
Yeah to fix that I need to run a replace query on the posts / signatures / PMs and pretty much anywhere that can use spoiler tags, but if I fuck it up everything dies so I won't do it without a full maintenance.

When can we expect this maintenance? o.o Because now I've gotta delete my signature to make it fit the requirements :x
