I know there's at least 2 other people on here that should be celebrating today.

Ditto. D:
I walked into my mother complaining to my brother about people thinking that they know everything about how computers work just because they know how their facebook profile works... she's the system admin for the network at my high school, and he her apprentice.
Made their day. :scrub:

She was told by her father that she couldn't be in the field because she was a girl. She accepted his challenge and surpassed him.

Good job on her father for using reverse psychology like that. LOL
The main problem with women in the tech sector is that they don't imagine it as being something interesting. As a result, they never explore the possibility. It's unfortunate.

But that's a problem with the person, not the gender.

If what you said was true then there would be no gender imbalance in the field.

At my high school the system admin was a female too! She was really cool if you got to know her.

You say that as if that's the only thing that could be a determining factor in the subject of question.

Regardless of the reason I want more women coworkers :( It's not even a sexual thing I don't care if they're 50 year old wrinky ex-hookers who suddenly got their CCNA, I'm just tired of being in a building all day that's full of men.
Normal sysadmins might have it better off somewhat since their company probably has some females, but my company is IT consultants. Everyone is a sysadmin except the sales guys who can probably be very basic sysadmins.
