I heard from someone random that he wishes that he didnt buy his beam swords, because sword combat is getting changed next patch or something.
Is this true? Kinda in a panic, cause all I do is swords.

Giants get much better. Humans get marginally worse.
That's about it.

The fuck? No. Melee is never getting nerfed. >.>

Beams usually have 0% balance, so with the balance change coming soon he probably doesn't want his beams anymore, and wants higher balance swords. Otherwise no melee isn't getting nerfed.

No.
You probably misheard [S]nib[/S] people talking about Melee/Ranged being weaker because of the release of some Elemental-immune enemies. Even so that's not really a nerf.

even the balance argument is pretty invalid considering how ridiculous the log curve is.

Heavy Armor Mastery too.
[S]But Guard Cylinder is crappy IMO. I wouldn't use it even if I was given one.[/S]

With the next update the max amount of balance someone can have without weapons is 50. The rest must come from masteries and enchants. Sword Master and Combat Mastery give passive balance so I don't think swords will be effected at all.
I don't think they changed the balance formula.

I'd like to see an explanation of this one, lol.

50% is the max balance from dex that anyone can have. The rest comes from enchants, skill bonuses, titles, and innate weapon balance. And the new balance formula is some sort of logarithmic curve thing, instead of being linear.

So meaning that they want to encourage people not to go barehanded?
Pretty much nothing that I really care about since I will be using instruments at very least if I want to attack.

you get around 45% balance from 300dex?
the only advantage human has over giant in balance is like 3% balance.
