I noticed that for most of the melee PD armor, the repair costs are around 10k gold per point.
How people make that much money to pay off the repair costs and also earn a profit at the same time is sometimes beyond me.
Is it necessary for end-game players to own PD-armour? Is it necessarily limited to the rich and/or the stronger players?
I really want to hear your opinions and your experiences on this.
I personally own PD armor but I never use them. My dustin is at 70 proficiency from age 25 mule afking and now it's collecting dust.

It's not necessary, though of course helpful. If you actually stand to gain significant benefit from wearing it you'll be doing so in places that make the repair cost very affordable. Don't wear them in places you aren't likely to die, or when you'd die in one hit. Great for tough shadow missions.

Nope, it isn't necessary at all. It is better to focus the enchants on them rather than the PD.
However, if you are doing PvP, it is very helpful to have PD.
I suppose end-game players will have the good enchants on their PD armor or just use a Light Armor for Principle/Darkness or Ancient/Darkness enchants.

If you rarely get hit, dur will go down very slowly. Don't get hit!

well, the only other pretty armor is rose plate, and well, at 98% it costs more to repair that (10,509) than val at fleta (9,502). i had a nice blue rose plate, fully upgraded, that i used to fix at 95%. they kept failing so i switched all my repairs to 98%. then i realized val costs less to repair at that rate, so i ditched my rose plate and i'm working on upgrading my val. see i had a dustin too, which i had mostly for explosion resist. however i did wear that for pvp and stuff for the ping, however it was much better to use a fully upgraded rose plate in my experience, since the ping doesnt activate all the time. dustin costs a bit more to repair (11,072). i say choose the better one, val / dustin, that suits your character's face. then fully upgrade it. THEN it would DEFinitely be worth it. right now my val has only 2 upgrades, but i very much prefer this to my fully upgraded rose plate. and how i will love it when it is fully upgraded too :3 i use transcended death for the tough sm's / dungeons to tide me over till i get it fully modded. if you constantly grind sm's you wont make enough money to make up for the repairs. well, for me at least. i usually solo commander 2 int or do wiz int~ i get hit kind of often in there because of all the multi aggros, so dura goes down faster than you make money. so i do sm's for exp, then to get repair money i sell hw's or do rabbie runs / redgem / sell white herbs and other things. they help surprisingly a lot. in rabbie and redgem i dont get hit hardly ever so it saves dura while i make money. pd saved my butt a lot of times when i was about to die~ but i also have a 11% pd shield so that helps too. so anyways, fully upgraded pd armor > fully upgraded nonpd armor because repair rates are around the same.

It's definetly not needed, but it's nice to have one in your inventory.
Just in case you need it.
Seriously...

My main can solo ciar adv with few or no deaths (depends all on if my sister is videostreaming =.=) and I get quite the cash flow (leathers + money 8D)
So basically, if i wore my Dustin to Ciar adv (I actually don't, since I'm in deadly about 95% of the time), not only it would be helpful, but I'd also be making at least 3 times the amount of money i'd need to repair the Dustin in the same period of time.
Basically, it all depends on how proficient the player is in effectively USING the armor, will he be able to repair it.
If I gave my in real life friend a Valencia armor, he'll have a hard time repairing it, including the fact that he won't know who would even repair it XD

I haven't touched my light/heavy armors at all. Clothes is all I ever needed, except when I need Fox Imp for something.
On topic, the developers consider PD armor better, so it gave it more repair cost.

Just a side note, on other servers Rose plate armor (Type B) with 15% melee and ranged PD(atleast I THINK it's melee and ranged) is a prize from jousting.

Thing is, I have never seen anyone with that.

Maybe it is just JP Server, but I can find you a screenshot if you like.
Also, I saw a giantess wearing it, don't remember if female humans and giants can wear the same rose plates. >.>
Found it.

My sister owns a Valencia armor. Along with her Hetero, that's 30% Melee PD altogether. She loves it and uses it only when she feels she's going to need the extra defense. Most of the time, she's running around in clothes though. No need to use her armor all the time, just when it's needed.

I wear my dustin body under my robe and that's primarily what i wear period (I have no fashion sense I swear). 20% melee, 15% range and with shield 12% magic. It's not necessary to have but when it's over 10% theres a chance of it being helpful if you do get hit.
Depending on what your style is will depend on what armor you'll want to use really, there is no superior armor in the end. However if you have the money you may as well go PD if your going heavy. Light armor has great enchants (better than heavy in most arguments) but lacks the defensive power and protection where as heavy has that defense and protection should you need it.
I keep one of each myself at some point i'll make my "end game" armor sets but that's awhile off yet.

Definitely for both humans and giants, I see word for human there.
However, the dura's really low, I think smithed valencias will be a better choice.
