Wand used was an ego fire wand with 55 Max Damage. (Casting speed reforge level 2 and the rest was trash)
Magic Attack stat in window is 214~216.
I merely asked because it feels too much without Magic Weapon Mastery.
That or the current numbers on wiki are wrong (+150% at rank 1)
Which means I'd have 17,5k crit firebolts with Magic Weapon Mastery with just this setup.
Hence I feel something is wrong there.
Nope, that sounds about right actually. 7k crit firebolts is about 2800 non-crit, and with 149 magic attack i'm doing about 3.4k non-crit at the moment,
without hebona. Just wand and the max reforge.

Koreans were doing 11k crit firebolts in Martial Arts with a Max Ego wand and level 21 Max Firebolt Reforge. Not sure what their magic attack was though. I'm assuming you were testing this on a 0/0 mob?

Yeah. We also don't have weapon magic mastery though and i'm not finished testing and making/reforging my set. Getting bolt mastery 20 on hebona circlet is going to be
hilarious.

Truth is, Koreans were able to hit 25k crit firebolts from what I was hearing. So to me, it sounds just about right. I'll do more comparison testing with my stock r2 fire wand and ego wand (Cause I'm lazy)
It'll be hard for me to fair test though as my ego just got 20 magic attack reforge this morning and I don't have any comparable wands to beat that without pouring money I'd rather not spend into reforges.

From what we (the cat and I) know:
Using the skill gives you the general formula of (base damage + matk*modifier)*masteries*charge multiplier.
Using the skill with a fire wand gives you the formula of (base damage + matk*modifier+(5*number of charges (old firebolt wand bonus)))*masteries*charge multiplier.
Using the skill with an ego fire wand gives you (base damage + matk*modifier + 5*charges + ego max damage). Tested this across various states of hunger and on different egos and it holds pretty true. Plus or minus one damage due to error.
The formula also seems to floor each individual value of base damage, so the formula ends up looking like this:
(Base damage + floor(matk * multiplier) + floor(reforge) + charge bonus + ego max) * the rest of the crap.
Base damage, charge bonus and ego max shouldn't be anything but integers anyway.

Makes sense, that seems to work out to snowie's numbers. I didn't really put much effort into seeing how high my firebolts would hit. I was too tired tonight to bother with much so I figured I'd focus on testing my ice magics first.
still not disappointed with the outcome of my ice magic either. Especially consider that I haven't bothered to special upgrade my hermit staff yet.

I felt lance was one of the weapons that least needed a buff... I think instead of increasing piercing levels, changing the piercing to a root - type relation ship would be better, where the largest different in piercing is between 0-1 level and 1-2 level, and decreasing from there on. Kind of like protection and its effectiveness, or dexterity and balance.
Maybe I'm too noob to understand how underpowered lances were pre-patch.

I'm not knowledgeable in melee at all, but I think they gave piercing to all weapons thus in effect nerfed lance piercing since lances were pretty much the only weapons which could pierce at all pre-patch?

the piercing "buff" is to balance lance for the new protection formula.
Previously, piercing was effective across all mobs. Currently, piercing is less effective against mobs with higher protection.
True, lance is now pretty OP against mobs with less than 40 protection, but those mobs were easy to begin with.
