Rain casting questions

I have r1 alchemy mastery and r1 rain casting but rF water alchemy. According to the wiki, it says that water alchemy increases the effectiveness of rain casting which is a bit vague. I was wondering if it affected the duration or the aggro reset capabilities of the cloud when you or your party members are under attack by monsters. It takes 30 seconds after the cloud is up for a monster to lose aggro on you or other party members. Is it worth ranking water alchemy to affect this or does it not affect the aggro reset at all?

Also, can two party members rotate between rain casting in a same room to control the multi aggro?

Water alchemy has no effect on raincasting from what i know of.

And yes 2 people can rotate raincasting.

A thing to note is, a fire based cylinder may not have the aggro cancelling effects as other cylinders, beware when using one.

It's still worth ranking since A. it prolongs the no aggro state and B. gives you a mobile thunder production capability which is quite useful considering we don't need crystals now. If you plan to use it effectively in battles then I can tell you shock does a better job

Against MA? Perhaps in general, but I can't see shock being great against things with Mana Ping.

:D actually, shock works quite well against mobs as long as it's not lvl 3 Mana Ping ie. Dullahan (lvl 2 + adv heavy stander), SCC Doppleganger (AHS), Grim reaper (AHS) etc

Too bad you're not on Alexina or I could show you, shock can actually stun them where normal magic can't~

Couldn't find data on Fleta(monster) and other MA npcs in wiki, but as far as I remember shock still stuns pretty well except it makes you the aggro bait. I usually shock the NPCs themselves so when they summon it automatically electrocutes the troublesome summons

In comparison, I have still yet to manage to make Rain cast's thunder remove aggro on hit, so it seems to be rather ineffective as soon as the monsters aggro

If you plop raincasting down, the mobs don't aggro you. It doesn't "prolong" it. It outright negates it.

On multiple occasions even with my r1 rain cast if you stand close or on top of the mob it stills aggro you without you attacking it. Try it :)

Cast the cloud first, wait a bit, sometimes it aggros you because of NA lag and glitches, ideally nothing is supposed to aggro you.

Most notable example is Ghasts.

And considering i was one of the first who SPREAD the information about raincasting's aggro properties, i think i would know, unless they tweaked raincasting since it's creation, which would promote my hypothesis about fire and volcano cylinders having a negative impact on raincasting.

When i first heard of this, i went in a peaca intermediate run. Casted rain. opened the chest full of ghasts and sat down.

It was after rain went away that ghasts decided to aggro me.

Thanks for the tips so I can put water and wind alchemy mastery on hold since I want to level commerce for more profits instead. Most of my tests were against zombies and SCC mobs. As I said, it takes 30 seconds for a mob to drop aggro on you after the cloud is up if you haven't ever attacked them with an attack that doesn't force you into combat and attract aggro. Meaning, it only works with flame burst so it's impractical.

Mob aggro is a bit messed up on NA side currently. They chose not to fix it currently, so keep that in mind as well.

Or maybe it's monster specific? Because if you go to TOA first room where it's easily controllable, pop a cloud before hitting orb, standing close to golems or shadow alchs will get you aggro o:

On a similar note, try popping a volcano rain cloud in the middle room of OA. I had... Unfortunate results with that.

I would put the masteries off for a long time, just cause how little they effect the skills.

Just checked with Sulphur spider, waited 5 seconds after popping cloud before hitting orb (I doubt I have 5000ms ping OTL), stood right next to the shadow alchemist, got aggroed and water cannoned after some 3 seconds

If you stand far enough, they won't aggro you at all

Perhaps it's shadow mission specific, since IIRC it's actually the same for many shadow missions I've done, including Martial Arts

I don't understand. It seems to work.

It works when I do MA.
