Christian Adamek, 15, hanged himself last week after he faced possible expulsion and criminal charges for streaking across his high school’s football field during a game the week earlier

People are too uptight nowadays. Threatening to put him on a list of sex offenders? Back in the day everyone would have just laughed and moved on. It was a dumb prank, that's all.

What the fuck, a sex offender?
Yeah, he pulled a little stupid stint and they threaten him with charges that would ruin his life?
For shame

One of the instances where faith in humanity is demolished.
While they're at it, once babies are born put them on the sex offender list too. Some people in this world are so sensitive to nudity that it's ridiculous. We're not born while wearing clothing, so in a sense being appaled by a naked person is stupid. Sure in some circumstances it's nasty but then everyone basically has a right to not wear clothing as much as they can wear them.

This is so sad. ):
He was probably so scared that he thought suicide was the only way.
RIP.

I mean, honestly he was 15. He probably didn't have anything to see in the first place, so the worst anyone probably got was mooned and they were going to ruin his life over it. That's just sad.

Good job.

He wasn't going to be put on the list, rather, it's a possibility that indecent exposure can be punished as that. Any judge that looked at the situation would have seen that he was clearly not a sex offender, just an idiot, and likely would not have done anything beyond the school's convulsion and probably sensitivity training.
That said, this is still sad, though the issue is a little different.

If he had tried forcing himself onto some of the students, then being listed as a sex offender would be more understandable. But streaking? Jesus christ. What a bunch of prudes.

You know, I was taking a look at the sex offender registry or whatever it's called online for my state and it did come off as highly intrusive and pretty scummy. I felt like a bit of a creep looking at their pictures, crimes and descriptions :l This whole thing really shouldn't exist. Seriously, I know people get super worked up about sexual things and even claim it's worse than death (which is ridiculous), but I have to wonder, would these same people support a violent crime registry? A substance abuse registry? A traffic ticket registry? They're already being punished for their crimes, is that not enough? Do people really need to know? And if so, why? The fact that these sites specifically warn us not to call/harass these individuals for legal reasons almost gives away that they know why it's really there.

It's there so you don't let nice old Mr. Johnson babysit your 5 year old then come home to her having been violated and find out he's already done it 5-6 times before.

What if he killed a kid instead? Does that need a registry too?
He was already punished and served whatever time they felt was necessary. It's already over.

Why even bother punishing them then if it's not going to change anything and they might as well just be looked at as threats all of the time? I thought the point of punishment was to prevent this from happening again.

And yet we have all these repeat offenders. I thought we were all aware that the American justice system was a joke?
