I was wondering what things I could do as a solo player to make my character strong enough to face it and which skill sets I should invest in. Sure, partying will make it easier but finding and organizing them takes too much out of the little time I have to play. Anyway, right now my character is a fighter that uses crossbows to draw out targets (no crash shot or arrow revolver yet).
Cumulative Lvl: 123
Age: 17
Talent: Fighter
Available AP: 40
Skills Ranked Past F:
- Combat Master rC
- Windmill r7
- Chain Mastery rD
- Weaving rD
- Tailoring rD
edit:
Also, are enchants necessary for what I'm trying to achieve? If so, what would be the affordable or easy to obtain ones. My character wears clothing if that matters.

I'm at cumulative level of : 700+ still didn't do G1 (but already finish G2 ,G9 and G10 ... which mean I got all transformation). I don't really bother to do it so much.
If you going to solo G1. I recommanded you to have total lvl of 300+ and atleast have windmill at rank 1. Because G1 dungeon have a lot of mob spawn in each room and each wave.
Also, if you use crossbow. I recommanded you to change to Bow ASAP. But for beginner you should rank your close-combat skill masteries like 'Heavy Armor' or 'Light armor' masteries. It will give you a lot of defense (or 'Shield mastery' if possible).
PS. If you want to know how hard G1 dungeon is. You should tried solo 'Fiodh' or 'Rabbie' normal... G1 Final is even harder.

G1 is not hard at all. I solo'd it around 40 levels higher, and it was back when destinies didn't even exist. Granted, I did have 2 higher rank of windmill, and others weren't really ranked alot. You'll take less time since you have better equips to choose from.
Now with talent and all that stuff, this should be alright if not easy. Just grab yourself beamswords and windmill your way through.
For enchants, if you take 5 minutes to dig up the forum, people have already given good advices, so look that up.

Let me clarify, I meant affordable ones. I don't know the market prices of enchants and I don't want to get ripped off by someone selling them in housing. Budget is around 1m.
Anyway, thanks for the replies.

In that case, you can pretty much spam for fox from the seal shop.
For hat, get a delusional hat from fiodh int for 4, or buy from someone else.
For boots, strider giant, those are easy enchants.
For gloves, get the raven gloves from g15, and put fox for prefix.
And special glass fragment on clothes.

Get rank 1 smash because Glas can regenerate HP. You won't stand a chance without high single target dps.
Enchants aren't necessary. Just bring a lot of potions. Get mana shield is possible.

I wouldn't recommend mana shield at this point, since it's so nerfed down. I'd say get a light armor or something. Or heavy armor if you can get 80 balance with enchants.

I agreed with ironwoman. Mana Shield is nerf, you'll lose almost all of your 'low' mana in 1 hit.
Glas have a VERY fast HP regenerate, and it have it's weakness. You just need to follow it's weakness, takes time but still do-able.
PS. We talking about newbie here, not someone with lvl of 1,000+. Smash of 100 - 200 damage mean nothing to 5,000 hp Glas.

My reason for suggesting Mana shield was to stop wounds. I think he would be better off using twice as many mp pots than having to bandage himself every 5 seconds. It also doesn't hurt to use mana as your auxiliary life line. Being able to tank 2 extra hits is better than nothing.
Point is, mana shield can only help you. Just don't rely on it completely like everyone else is said.
Edit: I just noticed you said you don't want to party because it takes too long to organize and you don't have much time to play. If you don't really care about the challenge of soloing it, pm me in game and I'll take you through the missions quickly. I'm on Mari too :p

I'm play on Alexina even I want to help him, I still can't XD.
Mana shield right now is not take defense into calculation. Wearing heavy armor with rank 1 heavy armor mastery still take less damage (and less wounds) then using mana shield. Mana shield did really help you not to get wound. But what the point if you don't have mana potion to restore it or to keep it up.
When I used mana shield (rank 9) I got hit with 10 - 20 damage to mana shield. But I got hit 1 damage with heavy armor, and it's take about 5 - 10 hits to wound me 2 - 3 point. With Glas Ghaibhleann that has high damage, a low rank mana shield can only last 1 hit (not 1 hit if you have MP of 150+).
Reality talk : I used to fight Glas Ghaibhleann in G9 'Scouting Mission' on Basic difficulty. He has very fast HP regenerate rate, have a lot of HP and even can shoot laser at you. But at that time mana shield (r9) still not nerf. So I used it to prevent wounded, and then final hit him (with fully upgraded 'Fomor Dagger') to death in about 30 second.
At that time I was at total lvl of 350+, with rank C Final hit. He's not very hard to take down if you fully prepare. Even with unnerf Mana shield I still take 100 damage to mana shield with his laser (and have to used my MP pot).
PS. Mana shield is useful if you have a lot of MP to prevent damage. Otherwise the damage that exceeded MP will still done to your HP (but not wounded I think).
Edit :
How can I forgot 'Summon Golem' XD. If you still have room to hide you character, summon golem can be used to take out Glas. Because Golem won't get aggro first, and if your golem is down. You still can call another to fight him again.
And with Rank 1 Summon Golem, I can took out 'Ancient Black Grizzly Bear' (15,100 HP, 70 - 120 damage, 11 def 10 prot) easily with smash and windmill about 3-4 time. And even took 20 - 40 damage from him (may down to 1 damage if ping).
If you looking for someway to fight a hard quest. Summon Golem maybe the one you looking for at begin or mid-game.

I actually wouldn't recommend golems. First, golems are nerfed down so much, a total 600 should be able to out damage it. Second, if you get into it, you won't be able to invest in skills that you really need to, and golem is certainly not one of them, unless you're an alch. I suggest just requesting a help in the forum, and just breeze your way through, many people can solo this easily.

Homin wrote on 2013-11-08 07:10
Wow, I never knew that a total lvl of 600+ can do 1,500+ smash :!!:. (4,500+ Cri)
That's true, the golem have been nerf so much. But with only about 200+ AP, if you can mastered in controling golem. You can take out almost every monster in the field.
The golem is not that bad. But with most situation that you need to control your character (like in dungeon or shadow mission), the summon golem can't do anything then take aggro of 1 - 2 mob (or take aggro of the boss).
I thinking of when alchemist updated to NA. The golem can be control when you still control yourself (Alchemist only). It would be awesome to have golem tank all the mob and you just water cannon (or flame) them to death.
PS. I really recommanded finding a party too. It's an online game, so most of the mission is not make for solo.

Thank you for the offer, but yeah, I'm looking for the challenge of soloing it. It feels odd to breeze through the game's main story on someone else's behalf.

You should consider the time it will take to solo each single room without getting killed and being booted out of the dungeon. There are no statues to revive at - though you could use a Phoenix Pet or ask a friend to use Advanced Feathers on you.
Anyway, my tip is, compare the time you might need to solo those 5 floors+boss with the time you might need to gather a party. Maybe soloing will actually be slower. I remember pure newbie Fighter to be pretty fragile when it comes to multi aggro and I shudder when I think of encountering a room full of Gargs with low HP, no Mana Shield and no high rank WM (I'm warrior). Either invest in strong weapons and one r1 skill (WM recommended) or go with a party. You could also use an AOE pet like the battle pegasus for support, if you have access to G18. If it's about being cool be prepared to spend many hours in this dungeon. You could also gather a party in this forum, it worked fine for me.
That's just my experience & opinion though, you might be a genius compared to my past self xD
P.s. & Edit: Your time argument just died :p
