Christian parenting guide "To Train Up A Child" responsible for another child's death. Many parents seeking to raise good Christian children have been buying the book to learn how to discipline their children properly, resulting in numerous deaths, torture, and injuries both physical and psychological.

This is actually frequently absent at my local library
That's scary.
Kids need love, compassion, and understanding, the authorsshouldn't be allowed anywhere near a child

Shouldn't Author be charged with murder?

No.. the people who were stupid enough to follow the book should.
If I write a book that tells people to jump off a cliff and the dumbasses do it I'm not responsible for their actions.

Quote from http://www.examiner.com/article/child-s-death-leads-christians-to-speak-out-against-michael-and-debi-pearl:
The teachings are self described as Christian, despite giving advice that many Christians find completely at odds with their faith.
The article is from 2010, though, so I imagine the outcry has died down over time. I'll see what I can do to get it roiling again...I don't want to hear about this couple and their book from hence forth.

A stupid as the book sounds, its the parents fault for following it, and they should be the ones charged with murder, not the author.

Excuse me but this is America. I really value our freedom to publish our beliefs, even if they're wrong.

I don't mind that, but when his work causes death, there should be accountability. Freedom in society SHOULD mean the ability to do whatever you want, but it shouldn't means you are free from the consequences of your action.

You sound like the parents who want to ban violent video games.

I don't know how they are like, I just think it's illogical for someone to do something and take no responsibility for his/her action afterward, I thought that was pretty reasonable.

Just because the book tells you how to do something it's still your responsibility to know not to do it.
Just like how if you play a game and go around murdering hookers and stealing cars, it's your responsibility to know you can't do that for real, not the person who made the game's.

Some really bad movies like the faces of death and cannibal holocaust have been made illegal to sell in the USA
I think this should be right there with it

Well I see it like this:
In order for the book induced murder to occur, what's required? The murderer him/herself, and the book. If either is missing, there would have been no death. I don't deny the fact that murder should take majority of responsibilities, but I still think the book is at least partially responsible.
