Bean Rua

  I feel that if splat asks a question in Bean Rua it should be answered truthfully and maybe have a discussion instead of derailing it with silliness. Splat isn't going to post questions in Everything Else as that's not his style. That's my biggest issue with bean rua is people not answering Splat truthfully when he probably does want a truthful answer just because it's Bean Rua. That's just my two cents on the issue and with that I shall ninja poof.
  
  Frankly I would love it if Bean Rua had more earnest discussions for threads that ask seemingly legit and honest questions and leave the silliness for topics that were funny or non serious in the first place. I think people should be able to easily tell which threads there are legit questions and which ones are joke topics, unless I'm seriously misjudging people's ability to properly tell the difference.

  No, you're not.
  The only reason Bean Rua has changed is because the community allowed it to change, not just one person. You're not the only person who thought Bean Rua should be taken seriously, stop being egotistical.

  Not all thread splat makes are de-railed and if he asks a serious question people will help, but yes people do usually joke around.
  Buy it is Splat's fault for not making the thread in General Discussion no matter which way you look at it.

  No, just no. We already have the General Discussions and Rua's House for more serious discussions, and even then if someone post a serious thread in Bean Rua people can tell the difference. For example when Nithiel made topics about his mom adopting tons of stray cats people suggested on what he should do as oppose to joke around, or when you posted a topic on Bean Rua when your cat ran away no one said "lol sucks for you". You obviously rarely visit Bean Rua so I don't even know why you want it to change.
  
  The whole reason we have Bean Rua in the first place is to joke around, even on the first day of nation people were joking around. As I said before if people want to have a serious discussion with little to no joking around they should do it so in General Discussion or Rua's House since they're specifically there for that reason. People ignoring those two sections doesn't change the fact that Bean Rua is meant to be Bean Rua and nothing else

  I'm up for a clear defined change. I don't really care what you guys do and want to do with that particular section as I admit, I am one of those who does not really use it and don't "know it's ways." I'll leave you guys to define what is acceptable and unacceptable and I'll support whatever outcome.

  Just because Bean Rua is its own little section, it doesn't mean it can't be taken seriously (to a certain extent, though, naturally).
  
  There are questions that people feel are maybe not significant enough to go in another section, but would still like to ask a group of people they feel relatively comfortable with. People can joke around yeah, but that doesn't mean that they should use this as an excuse to be rude. If you have your group of friends that you get along with that way, then fine, whatever, but if you don't like the OP and just want to mess with him it's not that hard to just not post. People on these forums are supposed to have enough maturity to at least have a certain level of self-control, but that seems severely lacking.
  
  I personally don't like some of the attitudes Bean Rua lends itself to. People think they can get away with a lot more there and they start getting arrogant and rude. There are people who do deserve to have a more free place like that though, so I'm against not having one at all. Most of the time, at least.

  I have nothing against splat and I haven't been a user on nation for that long but I think that people are sometimes rude to splat because he asks really really silly questions. I don't think it's as bad as when I first joined, but peoples first nature is to give a stupid answer to a stupid question. I remember when I joined nation I'd report splat constantly because I thought he was purposely just trolling and spamming the forums, but it turns out that is just how he is. We should all be treating him with respect, he is definitely improving, and I'd feel horrible to know Splat left nation because of people bullying him.
  
  Plus, he's not the worst. Wasn't there a guy posting tiger porn or something the other day?

  One of the things that I always thought was pretty stupid was how people handle serious (or even semi-serious) threads in BR. People can bring up that "BUT THEN IT SHOULD BE IN GENERAL DISCUSSION" excuse all they want, but honestly, how hard is it to just respond seriously to an obviously serious topic, or better yet, just ignore it?
  
  BR is supposed to be a sort of 'anything goes' section, yeah? So naturally, that should include serious topics as well. The problem isn't just with users like Splat, since Hanna has posted her fair share of serious topics in BR as well.
  
  People just seem to be whining over problems that they created in the first place. They can't accept the fact that they, and only they, choose to post dumb shit in a serious topic and then get chided for it.
  
  So while I do agree that some people should really try to post serious shit in a more fitting section, I also think it's silly that we try to put the blame on some OPs for even having serious/semi-serious topics in a section that is supposedly a 'misc.' portion of the forums.

  The rules are constantly under change, and many of these changes didn't completely make it back to the global page. I had promised to rewrite the entire thing to create better consistency, but that project fell through.
  
  Currently, there are a large number of conflicting rules that exist in the revised rules and the global rules page, so I will most definitely make it a priority come holiday vacations. I'm currently working double shifts until the next year starts, so I have only been able to lurk these pages and post infrequently. Of course, excuses do not justify delaying responsibilities of this position that I've taken, so I will dedicate some of my breaks over the next few days to address the matters at hand.
  
  Bean Rua really is its own entity separate from the rest of the mabination boards, so the rules are a lot more relaxed. But that doesn't mean we should be inconsistent with how we moderate it. I will highlight the current rules established for Bean Rua this Sunday, and if there are noticeable or significant objections, we'll hold another public discussion to better match everyone's demands for the board.
