Not sure if I got it all correct but...
All I can say is, Youtube is gonna be a lot less active than it used to be if they keep enforcing this. Personally I find it way over the top. So far gaming content videos help people learn about games/makes them try them out. It's techincally free adverstising. I don't get why gaming companies would complain about this either.
I sort of get if they make a problem with all the cutscenes of a game collected in one movie that gets put on Youtube. I mean, it makes certain people not buy a game sometimes since they can just watch the story for free online. That is, if they play it for the game's story.
Not to mention the other crap they already started about people having to use their real life names. If my Google+ accounts becomes unusable on Youtube because of this, I won't be changing it. I'll just watch videos as a guest.
But I can see Youtube then starting this thing where you have to be signed in to be able to even watch videos. =o= Not that I will be watching much when all of that would happen anyways, since I mainly am on YT to watch gaming videos. If most get removed because of this new shenanigans then there isn't much to watch.

No time for the videos but I did read about this today...
things I know:
1) game footage videos removed with the new scanning technology youtube uses to identify content
2) rage ensues
3) several videogame developers are actually against this and are on the side of the video uploaders
I think this is a big fuck up on youtube's side. This should be an opt-in feature for video game developers, and very few if any would actually want this considering it removes what is basically free advertising. The only issue I can see is background music from the gameplay, if the music was not produced and only licensed by the developer.
I very rarely make videogame videos, but when I do I turn off the music option.

They shouldn't get mad over cut scenes My main buying point for any game will always be Gameplay IDC for anything Ease so this removal of game play videos makes me not even bother buying them atm

^ What?

A lot of companies actually look at it as free advertising because it really is, and a lot of companies are doing their best to ensure that people are able to upload their videos and get the claims gone. But really there's only so much they can do at once, and if this continues, they'll probably get tired of constantly doing the same thing over and over again and possibly forget to continue. It's just more hassle for everyone, really. gg youtube
In reality there's nothing at loss for the companies. Someone buys their game ($60 if new) and then possibly that game review/gameplay ensures
at least another $60.
I just don't get why Youtube as a whole has to keep changing everything over and over. If it's not broken, don't try to fix it.
zzz
But I can see Youtube then starting this thing where you have to be signed in to be able to even watch videos.
Don't give them ideas.

The biggest offender is obviously Nitendo who so far is one of the only companies that feel the need to police their content. I mean seriously now? Why so paranoid Nitendo? They're consoles are the only ones that also make it a pain to record game footage on which is extremely annoying. Seriously Nintendo, I love your games but your policies suck really bad.

I know I don't buy some of the games because I can just watch the whole tutorial online.
Some of the newer RPGs/Action RPG(?) like Assassin Creed plays out like a very long movie.

The opposite can also be true though. If I hadn't watched Jesse's LP of Farcry 3 I'd wrote it off as just another modern shooter which I despise. Now it's one of my all time favourite.
If I haven't saw a LP of Freelancer, I'd never get into the space sim genre and I would never back Star Citizen.

I don't imagine all those Spelunky daily challenges will be messed with....
I can actually say that like 50% of the channels I subscribed to were due to a Let's Play. But I have a feeling all of those Let's Plays that aren't on an actual console may be left alone.
...I wonder if Nintendo (and several other companies) would still be bothered at all if they released games on Steam...? I doubt they'd lose money that way.

See that was my point. It is different for everyone. So my point of some people not buying the game because of cutscene game videos on YT is valid.
It guess though, in the case of some people like SUNFLARE himself, because of lack of gameplay videos they won't buy them at all. But I am not talking about videos that show some actual gameplay footage or review the game though. I was talking solely about understanding that game companies would have a problem with the videos that basically show the entire game content. Makes playing the game, after you've watched such a video, pointless.

There are also people(me) who wouldnt buy the game or play it even if there was no video of it. So that they permit the use of video to show the entire game or not.. doesnt bring them a single penny from us. But atleast one of these path bring us joy while the other bring nothing.

At the cost of all the other ones... like sending a nuke to get rid of a house fly.
