i mean i'm only going to want to bid/offer if i know someone else is willing to make that offer too, i never understood that mentality of hiding bidders' names if there were actual bidders on the item
If you look at it another way it could also be a way to ensure their sale. Other people who have the same item could possibly contact the bidder and sell it to them instantly or for cheaper leaving the original seller with a lower offer or none at all.

I feel like when they do that, they're trying to bid you up. If someone is trying to get rid of something, I don't think knowing who you're bidding against will ruin the sale o.e
