Mostly pvpers do this, I don't know if this is only an Alexina thing but.... whatever...
This is what happens, i'll walk around dunby, and ill ask someone something, and then say say what they need to say and quickly throw in a (lol) (insert random facial expression here) and you just see a lot of "..." in the chat... People spam this "..." It's very annoying fad.
Tell me what you think about this, if you have seen it or not and explain.

So you mean to tell me that preteens, young teenagers, or people otherwise lacking at holding a decent conversation are in Dunbarton? Say it isn't so!
On that note, I've been through Dunbarton Channel 1 and have not witnessed this strange phenomenon.

Those "..." are what you get when you hit the hotkeys for facial expressions.
I don't like that it gets rid of whatever was in the chat bubble before, but I just do it so my character does the facial expressions. I personally hate text emotes and you'll never see me use them. So I use the ones that actually change my character's face.
I don't know how it is on Alexina, but I see quite a lot of people do it on Mari who don't PvP (myself included like I said). I wouldn't call it a fad. It's a function of the game.
I wish there was a hotkey for the "(perv)" function. I'd use that shit all the time.

Type in (perv) (perv)
with a space between the the two () () and it'll stay a bit longer.

Might be cool, but I really want to be able to hit it on the fly with alt + whatever integer like the others. I'll have to look at keyboard settings next time I play. I might have glanced over too quickly last time I looked into it.

I use that to avoid chat-lags. If you say something really fast (like 5 sentences in a sec) and doesn't let you chat more, I just spam alt+1 to continue chatting.

It is a good use of game facial functions?

I sorta find it funny. Most of the times, I see pvper noobs trashtalking then using those facial expressions right away.
Too mature for me to handle.
On the other hand, it does help when my chat gets stuck.
