Quote from Loopulse;1190707:
1. It only helps a small minority, as I stated before. The rest, it hurts.
2. Well, this isn't about fantasies, but I'm sure this is still relevant in my argument. This also works. Also, you used the word "natural" earlier, when pr0n is clearly unnatural.
3. You said that it would be too difficult to catch people, so the minuscule number wouldn't make a noticeable difference.
Furthermore, who said that people would be jailed?
1. "small minority." Okay, reducing rape rates by 3/4ths of a percent by the percent of increase of internet porn availability is a small minority... umm no. And who is it hurting?
2. First off, I'd like to point out both links quote the same source. Pornography, while you may consider unnatural given it's a form of art, has been around since the ancient Greeks and earlier. It is something that came out of human development after clothing became normal in most every human civilization that has formed, so if nothing else, it is something that has come out of the unnatural act of wearing clothing. As it -is- natural for males to oggle females and become sexually stimulated by doing so.
And on that second source.
Developing a tolerance toward pornography, so that increasingly novel or bizarre porn is needed to maintain the same level of interest
I don't see why this would happen unless an individual has a drive for more novel/bizarre. I haven't sought out new types of porn since I was 18.
Misperceptions of exaggerated sexual activity among men and women
Usually only due to lack of proper sexual education early in life, often from lazy or scared to talk about sex parents.
Overestimating the popularity of sexual practices such as group sex, bestiality, and sadomasochism
As my answer to #2.
Diminished trust in intimate partners
The only way this would happen is if there was a trust issue in the first place.
Abandoning the goal of having a monogamous marriage
Is there a problem with polyamorism?
Believing sexual promiscuity is normal
Perhaps not 'normal' in modern western society, but it is quite natural according to burial records, actions in other primates, and general attraction studies.
Believing sexual chastity is harmful to one’s health
Pushing sexual chastity can strain relationships as well however. Also, masturbation is a good thing.
Developing cynical attitudes about love and fidelity
See proper parenting.
Believing superior sexual satisfaction is attainable without love or intimacy
Again, see proper parenting.
Believing marriage is sexually confining
Parenting.
Believing that having children and raising a family is confining
Once again, parenting.
Developing a negative body image, especially for women
Blame society here. Also, parenting.
Increased risk of developing sexual addiction
Anyone have statistics for this? Also, so long as it is with healthy partners devoid of STDs, with birth control used, it is no worse than a video game addiction.
Increased risk of exposure to “incorrect†information about human sexuality (e.g., bestiality, pedophilia)
Parenting.
Exposure to age-inappropriate sexual material [Editor’s note: One should ask here whether the authors of this study consider erotica ever to be “age-appropriate,†or whether this is simply a way of avoiding judgment on adult consumption of erotica.]
Parents using internet controls. Also, parenting in general.
As far as I see it, most of the "issues" with pornography tend to source from lax parents or education systems in teach about sexuality in a reasonable if not even complete manner. Part of the negatives in question stem from many parents not talking about what they do to their children, and try to shush shush and hide sexuality except when it comes up from other sources. Kinda my issue with western society in general in glorfying violence while leaving sexuality in the back corners of things. why is it we see death, blood, and gore on TV, but an act of creating life, an act of peace, love, and creation, something good for the world, is that which is considered "too mature" for younger audiences and hidden?
3. You know the saying "every drop of water raises the ocean?" Yeah. As far as jailing, if it's only a misdemeanor + fine... it would likely be ignored, like the laws in 10 or so states that ban all sex but missionary position.
On another point, have another article;
